If you have a flexible work schedule and can avoid peak hours its a good gym. This location is notably missing a seated row machine, so I use the location in Condesa when doing back day. There are multiple good and free massage machines and tanning beds included. They have classes too but wish they had Yoga classes at better times (right now only 7am or 7pm) The gym has everything else you need. They also give you 5 free buddy passes a month, though they do have to enter some personal information which takes a minute or two. With the arrival of a bazillion "digital nomads" all the local gyms in Roma/Condesa now try to rip off foreigners charging ridiculous prices, but smartfit charges the same $550 pesos a month for everyone which I appreciate. Even better you can use your membership here to workout anywhere in Latin America, I've used it to workout in Puebla, Brazil and even Buenos Aires. Overall CDMX has terrible gym options, so smartfit is about as good as it gets, despite the overcrowiding issue which is why I deduct 1 star, just try to avoid peak hours and...
Read moreI've been to about 50 gyms in my life, and have never been in a place as crowded as this.
During the weekdays 3-8pm, it is out of control how many people are there. It might be a fire hazard. There is no place to stand for more than 5 seconds, you have to keep moving to avoid people. Every machine has a line of people waiting to use it, and the 4 benches are surrounded by about 20 people, all working out and bumping into one another.
Plus, they don't allow foreign credit cards. To use a Day Pass, you need to stand at the kiosk for 10-15 minutes to input all of your information, including your credit card number and three-digit PIN number (in front of several other people who can easily see your credit card information), and when you come back the next time, you'll need to input all your info again. The "smart" fingerprint scanners don't work, and in the end they just had to erase all my info and charge my credit card (which they claimed wouldn't have worked since it was a foreign card).
Oh, and...
Read moreThe place is very clean and well ventilated. I just went one day to this particular location because itâs 5 and a half streets away from the bus services although the subway Sevilla is close I donât use the subway to go to the gym . I like that they had everything well organized but itâs probably because not many people come here. I went from 6pm - 8pm and it was not pack at all compared to other smart fit. Itâs cool that they have a bosu ball and long gated handles for the cable machines. The locker rooms are upstairs along with the treadmills. I didnât like the trainers there none of the trainers came up to me to see how I was doing or ask if I was doing good, they only talked to the regulars. I didnât get a âheyâ from far away from one of the trainers but that was it. It was probably because i was new and they have never seen me but thatâs more of a reason to...
