Hyatt Regency Mexico City — Attraction in Mexico City

The Hyatt Regency in Mexico City a very nice hotel however I am giving it to stars because from the start from the moment Iarrive to the hotel it has been a headache the hotel is very new everything is clean everything is innovating the staff is very courteous and nice the rooms are clean however I am still staying here at the hotel and I couldn’t wait to make a review on this hotel because from the moment I arrive to the checking I was welcomed by a very unprofessional lady at the front desk Who had me waiting 25 minutes to check into my room a suite and an extra room that I and my companion had reserved ,Same person that also try to upsell me an upgrade to a bigger room claiming that the room I had reserved online was not available even after I had showed her the reservation on the phone it was an after five minutes of telling her that the reservation was already check that she magically found the room available and didn’t bother more about the upgrade little rude way to tell me to the next time do not go to that lobby but to do my inquiries or any questions at the lounge area in floor 40th Which to me was a little bit rude taking into consideration that I’ve traveled in state at the multiples and different hotels around the world and well this was just not very pleasant I also understand that when you check into a room most of the times you must present a credit card to keep credit for any incidents or any extra charges that you may do however when I read quested to do a cash deposit she asked for a sum of money that didnt seem proper So we asked for her to ask her manager or supervisor a lady that was standing on one and 10 feet away from us and the manager simply stood there and didn’t make eye contact or try to approach us as clients to try to defuse the unwelcoming checking that we were having she just stood there and directed the desk clerk to only take the dollars from us because it’s only what we had After more than 25 minutes of just standing there tired from our flights we finally got our cards to head up to our rooms 1suite in 43 floor and a basic room in floor 14 On the first night to order some room service we were greeted with a order of chicken club sandwich which I could easily said it was the worst club sandwich we had had ever the chicken it was cold they deliver the food late and only because we called after 45 minutes at late hours of the night where I’m sure there was no 50 orders in place for us to wait that long I had to call and tell them where is my club sandwich .

The heater in the room did not work now taking into consideration that at this time of the year in Mexico Siri the temperature drops the heat of the network are in us coming from a different country we were not very pleased with the heater not working so we called maintenance to ask for help and they send someone to set the heater control however an hour or two hours later the temperature was still not going up and we were freezing so we had to call back and complained again at this time they decided to send a portable heater which resolve the problem and I mean even this was OK Understand that every hotel has their issues and nothings going to be perfect but considering that this was a sweet and we paid over $500 for it we would expect a little more out of it but that’s OK

The next day which is today Friday at about 11 AM 1130 there’s constant construction being done in the building or roof of the hotel to the point where you cannot possibly rest and I mean this is the last floor so literally you could hear someone banging with a hammer the ceiling of the room so called again control to please ask for them to solve the situation or tell the people to stop banging for a couple hours and then we could possibly get some rest So after like 20 minutes the banging stopped on the walls To get worsen by drilling in the ceiling of the room I called again the lounge and they claim dad at this time of the year they occupancy it slow and they decide to make...

I stayed at Hyatt Regency Mexico City as part of a mattress run and while the hotel was not the most luxurious of the 7 I tried in CDMX, it was the one which offered the best elite loyalty benefits and made for the best value for the money so I can recommend HR particularly to Globalist guests.

By the time I checked in the standard suites were not available so I could not get a Globalist suite upgrade. The receptionist gave me my room keys for a club room and later during happy hour he stopped by to tell me that after checking with his manager they would be able to give me to an Executive Suite (normally not for Globalist upgrades) so I packed up and changed rooms.

Obviously the suite was significantly better than the club room not only because the size was approximately 3 standard rooms according to the floor plan, but also because the dining and living area both had hardwood floors rather than carpet whereas the standard room I had for just a few moments was entirely carpet other than the bathroom.

There was no view of Chapultepec Park because my suite was on the wrong side of the building. I am not sure if all suites are facing north but for standard rooms the ones with Chapultepec view are more expensive and I did not see that same price distinction for the suites. The inferior view would be one of the few ways where my suites at JW Marriott and InterContinental were better than at HR, but for most of everything else HR was the best of the three.

The Regency Lounge has recently reopened after renovations and it looks nice, but it’s not fully operational yet. Breakfast was not offered in the lounge but rather in the restaurant. The breakfast menu was quite extensive with lots of local options and large portions. I was not aware that the Globalist breakfast was supposed to be the buffet only (nobody told me at check-in), instead I ordered dishes from the a la carte menu and they were kind enough to waive the charge.

For happy hour, there was a hors d’oeuvres menu 5-9pm served near the lobby because they have not started serving food in the lounge yet. Similar to breakfast, the menu was quite interesting and better than the set tray offered at InterContinental (or JWM which simply closed the lounge and did not offer any alternative); we could order up to 5 appetizers per person plus 2 desserts. Drinks were also served near the lobby 6-9pm or alternatively for a more private venue, a limited drink selection like wine and beer was available in the lounge.

Service was not always perfect but it was clear they aimed to please especially with the situation with the suite upgrade: they could not give me the standard upgrade but went out of their way to give even better without me even asking for anything. The one area for improvement is that sometimes service in the restaurant during breakfast of happy hour was uneven, I could see staff just chatting among each other and not servicing guests, sometimes not paying attention if I needed something, or simply walking by while I am still waiting to give my order.

Overall room rates at HR are in the same range as JWM and IC plus they are in the same neighborhood so it’s easy to compare all three. My suite upgrade at HR was significantly superior than at JWM where it was just a corner room, happy hour at HR was the best of the three (especially since JWM did not have any), and breakfast was also my favorite although if I had been limited to the buffet probably my opinion would be different. It all came together for a stay which was excellent value...

What a fantastic hotel this is, and on any future visit to the city it’s unlikely I’ll be staying anywhere else. Leading up to my visit their engagement and communication via email was brilliant and upon arrival the first impressions continued to be superb. Checking in was a fast and seamless process with very welcoming staff. The contemporary expansive lobby area might not be to everyone’s taste but it was certainly spacious, spotlessly clean and a seriously smart area.

There’s lots of fast lifts serving all the floors and I never needed to wait more than a few moments during my stay. My room was on the 32nd floor, facing Northwards over the city. It was a standard king room but I was seriously impressed - it was very large and spacious with a truly huge comfortable bed. There was a large sofa in the corner of the room in front of the window, with a small coffee table. The desk was large along with the suitcase storage area beneath the TV. The mini bar was decent and there was a coffee machine for hot drinks. It was a shame that the wardrobe area was open by the main door but eight hangers should be enough for most.

The TV was massive and just right for the room. There was a lot of different lighting options and the under unit lights made the room feel very modern. The air-conditioning is perhaps the very best I have ever experienced in a hotel, being silent yet highly effective. The view from the room is no doubt one of the biggest perks and I’d recommend securing a room as high up as possible to take full advantage.

The bathroom was just as modern as the rest of the hotel and flawlessly clean. No bath, but the shower was huge, had a convenient shelf and both a rainforest head and handheld unit. Water came hot almost instantly and the power was good. Every amenity you’d need was provided and the toiletries were beautiful, with both shower gel and soap bars provided.

Sleep quality was wonderful, with the bedding being comfortable and zero noise from adjacent rooms or corridors. It’s certainly up there as one of the best hotel rooms I’ve stayed in.

The restaurant and bar area is within the lobby on the ground floor. Being so open gives quite a casual feel but that’s not the case with the service. Menus were accessed using a QR code on mobile device but orders taken from the attentive staff who were all very professional. Breakfast is part buffet with the rest served by the chefs. There’s a wide range of options including some traditional dishes however I did feel like the labelling and descriptions could have been clearer. The food menu throughout the rest of the day was a lot more limited and didn’t impress as much. The quesadillas were pretty greasy and I wasn’t won over by the flavours, and the Margherita pizza was very heavy on the cheese, although was tasty and served with a lot of accompaniments. Despite the five star setting the prices weren’t bad at all which was great to see.

I found the location of the hotel to suit me well during my visit. It’s in a good neighbourhood with plenty of restaurants nearby. There’s a small park out the front and it’s an easy walk to get to some of the nearby attractions. The concierge team were very efficient at organising transportation anywhere else in the city if you don’t feel like hailing taxis yourself.
