Tribute to the greatest gelato in the world.
We came up to this place while we were looking for gluten free options in Kotor. It was conveniently a minute walk from our apartment. When we first got there we obviously had some question marks in our heads about how gluten free this place can be, if they double dip the scoop or if any of the ice creams could cause cross contamination. With a manor only coeliacs can understand we watched the big man behind the counter (later we found out his name is velizar) filling the cones with almost an artistic knack of avoiding any contact with the cone. Later on we saw âgluten free conesâ neatly stacked on display fridge. We got upset to the fact that they are not covered in case any touching or airborne glutening but Velizar, our lovely friend had a special trick up his sleeve in the form of a airtight packed gluten free cones kept away from the display. Velizar assured us everything in the shop is 100% gluten free and safe for coeliacs. Wide range of gelato with extra care to allergies. me and my partner, we looked at each other, and we each said, OKAY. Peculiar thing is this my friend, this review is a tribute to the greatest gelato in the world.
Our choices were made and upon first tasting we realised we are not only having a safe gelato we are tasting the greatest gelato we ever tasted.
We visited marshalâs gelato 3 times in the 2 days we were in Kotor and tried majority of the flavours and there wasnât a single one that did not give us a âfood smileâ. We had chance to chat with Velizar about food and I can tell you that this kind giant has a passion for providing the best possible food.
This shop should be marked as a landmark to Kotor, thank you for everything. When we come back to montanegro, Marshals gelato will be one of the reasons in the back...
Read moreMy partner and I tried almost all the flavours in our short stay in Kotor and they were all delicious!! My highlight was definitely the tiramisu flavour which was a perfect balance of sweet from the chocolate and slight bitterness from the coffee combined with the creaminess of the ice cream. My partnerâs highlight was the yoghurt and cherry flavour and the salted pistachio flavour - he cannot choose between them. Everything tasted super fresh and like it had the best quality ingredients! Pictured is the Nugat flavour (bottom scoop), the hazelnut piemonte (middle scoop) and the banana (top scoop). As a coeliac, this is the first gelato shop I have come across which is safe for me. There are gluten free cones as standard and air sealed gluten free cones for coeliacs. We could also tell that Velizar (the amazing person behind this shop) thought every possible source of cross contamination through to keep the gelato as safe as possible. Thank you for incredible gelato and an incredible experience...
Read moreThis is the place where people take children to have their first icecream. This is one of the best if not the best icecream I have ever eaten, and I have eaten A LOT of it. There are a lot of standard flavours but when I saw a wild pomegranate I was overwhelmed with joy (favourite fruit), which I coupled with dark chocolate, Marshal special (hazelnuts and almond) and pistachio, which I always take. I was so eager to try it so I forgot to take photos. OH MY GOD, it was heaven in my mouth. It was so enjoyable, I've lost awareness of my surroundings, everything around me faded and it was me and this magical icecream. Pomegranate - perfect combination of sourness and sweetness Dark chocolate - strong and full of flavor Marshall special - creamy nutty combo Pistachio - every icecream maker should try it, so they know what to stride for. Here I am, feeling like a judge at the 1976 Summer Olympics, when little Nadia Comaneci made history, so from me...
