The Tangier Kasbah is one of the most prominent landmarks in Tangier and one of the most important and famous landmarks in the Kingdom of Morocco. The Tangier area includes a large museum with wonderful designs, displaying the history of civilizations and kingdoms that followed the rule of Morocco, and it consists of three sections in which you will find many statues, ceramic and wooden artifacts, and antiques, silver and gold ornaments, jewelry and precious stones, as these exhibits go back to different eras, including Phoenician. And Romanian, Islamic, Moroccan Andalusian and others The construction of the Tangier Kasbah dates back to ancient times, as it was the seat of the sultans of the Moroccan kingdoms, and the rulers of the states that colonized them, and it was also the seat for meetings of state leaders and decision-making. Time and great changes in Morocco The palace has been abandoned, and today it has turned into a major tourist attraction. You will also find a very impressive marble fountain with unique designs and sculptures, as for the palace, it is a unique architectural masterpiece with its ornate walls and marble columns with wooden excavations, and is distinguished by its art that combines the Arab-Islamic character with the European character such as Portuguese and English. The Kasbah in Tangiers includes what is known as the Sultan's gardens, which have an Andalusian garden character, distinguished by their designs, green spaces, water pools and lakes of fountains. Because of its wonderful location, the Tangier Kasbah is distinguished by its wonderful views of the Strait of Gibraltar and the beautiful Atlas Mountains, as well as its proximity to the prominent historical and natural monuments in Tangier, and there are many popular restaurants that offer types of traditional Moroccan food.

Perched on a hill with sweeping views of the sea, the Kasbah Museum in Tangier offers more than just a cultural excursion; it presents a journey through time. Situated in the historic Kasbah district, the museum is not only a treasure trove of history but also a stunning example of Moroccan architecture. The museum itself, an epitome of Moroccan design, captures the essence of the region's rich architectural traditions. The way the sunlight plays across the ornate tiles and carvings adds a lively spirit to the static exhibits housed within.Historical Collections. The museum's collections span several centuries, showcasing artefacts from the Roman period onward. These historical pieces provide a glimpse into the diverse cultural influences that have swept through Tangier. However, it was the building's majestic architecture that held my attention more than the artefacts on display. The lack of English descriptions for the non-Arabic or French-speaking visitors did pose a challenge in fully appreciating the historical context of the exhibits.Admission and Accessibility. The entrance fee to the museum is MAD 30 per adult, which grants access to all the main exhibits.

Well… I had an interesting experience here. the museum was nice, but be wary of the people surrounding the building. We were talking with one of the guards at the museum about the history of the walls and Moroccan culture. An old man came into the museum entrance and started talking with us and with the guard. The museum guard told him we mostly spoke English, and then sent us with him. He essentially picked us up under the guise that he was giving directions to a cool spot. He showed us around the Kasbah, and gave us a bit of a tour. I don’t know how much was actually true. We ended up getting stopped by undercover police, who said they had arrested him the day before for giving false tours. He does not have the authorization to do so. I don’t think he’s dangerous, but just be wary of getting herded like that. I attached a photo, he let us take it of him while we were on the tour.

Quite a decent museum, much bigger than first appears. There's two parts, left and right. Easily takes 1-2hrs to get thru it all. The left side is ancient stuff, exotic mosaics and tiles. The right side is mostly art, paintings, movies, recent. Not as interesting. Admission is very cheap 20DRM pp. Nobody there, chilly December day, you got the place to yourself (with 4-5 security guards). Garden upstairs is underwhelming, should skip that. The crypt room with skeletons is more interesting. The ceilings are amazing, they have mirrors below to help you see them without neck strain.

The exhibition was quite underwhelming, in my opinion. There aren’t many items on display and most of the texts are in French or Arabic. The staff speak these languages, but little to no English. When we paid at the entrance, they didn’t give us any tickets, but they asked for them later on. When we explained that we paid and we didn’t get any, the response was just an “aaah, OK…”. The architecture is indeed beautiful, but nothing you can’t see elsewhere. The garden isn’t that well maintained and it looks like the cafe has been closed for a long time.
