I had an EXCELLENT 7 day Mardi Himal trek. 3 Sisters was my choice for a few reasons: 1. They allowed me to pick my own custom dates, versus joining a group with set dates. This really helped me in finding times that worked with flights etc. 2. I was hiking by myself, and as a solo woman it was a HUGE bonus to me that all the guides and assistants are women.
The trek was an amazing, once in a lifetime experience, thanks in large part to the Three Sisters staff. My guide, Sarmila, was friendly, helpful, and interesting to talk to. She had a lot of knowledge about the trek, the mountains, and the best ways to hike/schedule things to avoid altitude sickness, crowds and other issues. She also was open to talking about Nepali culture and daily life. She prioritized my comfort and safety. Her English skills were also amazing, I was so impressed she mostly learned on the job. My assistant, Pabitra, was newer to Three Sisters (I think she was on her first trek to Mardi Himal?) and she was also kind, helpful, and a comfortable presence for me.
Sarmila and Pabitra allowed me to shorten the trek by one day and were flexible with mid-trek changes. I also accidentally left my trekking poles on a jeep we traveled in and was sure I'd never see them again, but Sarmila did some legwork and was able to recover them for me. I'm sure that took a few phone calls and I didn't realize she was even doing it until my poles showed up again the next day in the trunk of the car that was picking us up! Top notch organization & service.
I recommend this trekking company to everyone but especially women! 5 stars especially for Sarmila and Pabitra. Thank you for a once in a...
Read moreTo second other reviews, the absolute best trekking company to work with. I was recommended 3 Sisters by a dear friend who had trekked with them, and already loved their mission and work, empowering women to be trekking guides and giving them opportunities as assistants. This love was further heightened by meeting my trekking team: Kushum didi, Gyanu didi, and Suhana didi, all of whom my friend group and I absolutely respected, adored, and appreciated for their guidance, care, and expertise. They were the backbone of the group, and individually such wonderful people to chat with and laugh with during the entirety of the trek. It felt like family, and group of older sisters looking after you and taking care of you during your trek in an unfamiliar place and altitude, all the way to Annapurna Base Camp, with most of the group being their first time in Nepal. I will never forget their love and care for us. Thank you 3 sisters for your incredible work bringing in more women into the industry and offering opportunities, thank you Dipjaya ji for your wonderful immediate email support and information during the planning from US to Nepal, and especially thank you thank you thank you to my lovely Didis: Kushum didi, Gyanu didi, and Suhana didi. Ask for Kushum didi if you have a hike (esp Annapurna Circuit and Mardi Himal!)
P.S. Kushum didi gives the best back massages for sore muscles (warning: dangerously effective and...
Read moreWe did the Pikey Peak trek with Three Sisters and I have a mixed feeling about it. At the begining, I was very happy to contribute to their mission : Helping woman becoming guides in Nepal through tranning. I am very sensitive to this cause and I was very happy to contribute. However, over all, our experience was very disapointing because we didât have any added value paying 50% more than other agencies. We would be very controlled on what we eat, pushed to order to cheapest meal, not have an additionnel cup of hot water in the morning. The guide didnât bring crampons pretending that there will be no snow so we ended up walking on the snow without crampons. The price difference is not justified, and we felt scamed. Also, the Trek is planed over 6 days of walking, if the weather is good and youâre a good trekker, you can do it in 3 to 4 days very easily. My final advise, eventhough we liked our guide and assistant : you can easily do this Trek independently, you will gain in freedom and walk in your own pace. Also, I tried to have a conversation with the sale representative, that same person who was very available and gentil in the beggining became sundenly not available, she woulnât pick up my calls and not call me back. Itâs a shame because they could really make a difference if they add to their story telling a very...
