We chose Amsterdam Boat Adventures after seeing great reviews here on Trip Advisor, I also wanted to have a small open boat tour instead of the large covered ones.

The tickets for the tour were super easy to book online, and easy to find availability. The location for the start of the tour was clear, and there is ample bike racks if you arrive by bike (which I also recommend, best way to see Amsterdam!).

The open top boat is adorable and clean with cushions and blankets as needed. There are also refreshments you can purchase as needed from a little fridge. Jamie was a perfect tour guide, very knowledgeable of the area, open to extra questions, and pointed out little things we would not have noticed upon first glance. We had been in Amsterdam for 2 days before the tour, so things we had walked by or biked by earlier were now explained to us, as well as places we hadn’t seen or didn’t notice before.

Jamie has a super kind personality, shares information about Amsterdam and then takes a break for a little bit, which let’s you have time to just enjoy the peaceful canals. The boat has a super quiet electric motor, so all you hear is the water and Amsterdam around you. I would totally recommend his tour to anyone looking to experience Amsterdam by water (which you should do at least once while you...

If you're looking for a truly special and memorable experience in Amsterdam, Amsterdam Boat Adventures is an absolute must! We were a group of four moms on a much-needed getaway, and this boat tour was one of the highlights of our entire trip.

From the moment we stepped on board, everything felt relaxed, personal, and far from the crowded, touristy vibe of the bigger canal boats. The boat itself was intimate and charming—perfect for a small group like ours—and gave us the perfect setting to enjoy the beautiful canals in peace.

Jamie, our guide, was incredible. So warm, knowledgeable, and fun—he struck the perfect balance between sharing interesting stories and giving us time to soak it all in. It honestly felt like we were cruising with a friend who just happens to know everything about Amsterdam.

This experience truly made our trip complete. We laughed, relaxed, learned, and left feeling like we'd seen the heart of the city in the best way possible.

Can’t recommend this highly enough. Thank you, Jamie- you gave four moms an...

Fantastic! Rick Steves highly recommended Amsterdam Boat Adventures and we were so glad we found it! We arrived early at the departure point on a small canal away from other tour departures and wondered if we were in the right place. There was one boat tied up and virtually no sign. We returned at departure time to find Captain Attila, a young Hungarian with perfect English, helping the 11 passengers aboard. (The boat holds 12 guests). Attila was warm, professional, polite and knowledgeable and entertaining. His narrative was easy, friendly and filled with fun facts and interesting stories. The boat was small enough to go where the larger canal boats could not go. We saw it all! There was beer and wine for purchase. It was a beautiful sunny day, but there was a folding canvas top if needed. We were happy to discover this is a family owned company. We were so glad we found this cruise rather than the big, impersonal boats that were everywhere or the high end cruises that our hotel recommend. We would go on this cruise again in a...

I’m so glad that we joined this small boat tour. We booked a time online the day before and were lucky to find 2 spots still available in the late afternoon. I think there were about 10 guests altogether and it didn’t feel crowded. I loved that the boat glided silently because of its electric motor and that it didn’t have a roof or anything blocking the view. It fit through the tiny canals that the large boats couldn’t fit into. Our captain was extremely capable; I couldn’t believe how well he managed to navigate around other boats and under bridges. He had interesting things to say but didn’t drone on. It was much better than a typical tourist experience; There were drinks and blankets and it was very comfortable. This was a really cool way to get our bearings after first arriving in Amsterdam. I would have stayed on board all day and was sad when the hour and an half was up. I would definitely do this trip again.

We had the most wonderful experience with Captain JoĆ£o and Amsterdam Boat Adventures on their sunset cruise. From the moment we stepped on board, JoĆ£o made us feel welcome and at ease—warm, funny, and full of great stories about the city and its canals. The boat itself was intimate and comfortable, the perfect size for enjoying the ride without feeling crowded. As the sun set, the canals lit up with reflections, and JoĆ£o navigated us through both iconic sights and hidden corners we never would have discovered on our own. What really stood out was how personal the experience felt—it wasn’t just a tour, it was like being shown around by a friend who truly loves Amsterdam. Watching the city shift from golden hour to twilight on the water was pure magic. I can’t recommend Amsterdam Boat Adventures enough, and if you’re lucky, you’ll get Captain JoĆ£o at the helm. A highlight of our trip!
