I recently had the pleasure of visiting Dignita, a delightful restaurant nestled in the backyard of a museum within the charming city of Amsterdam. This hidden gem is situated in a tranquil park, making it the perfect spot for a relaxing and delicious brunch experience.
From the moment I arrived, the serene ambiance and picturesque surroundings captivated me. The beautiful tant park (or hofje) provided a peaceful escape from the bustling city, creating a serene atmosphere that complemented the culinary delights awaiting me.
Dignita specializes in brunch, and I must say, it exceeded my expectations. One of their standout dishes was their poached eggs served on a bed of squashed fried potatoes, with a choice of bacon, avocado, or salmon as delectable toppings. The combination of flavors was simply divine, and the perfectly poached eggs added a rich and creamy texture to the dish. It was truly a brunch experience to remember.
I would highly recommend making a reservation in advance, as this charming establishment is a popular destination among locals and visitors alike. However, if you find yourself unable to secure a table, don't fret! Dignita offers a convenient takeaway option, allowing you to enjoy their delectable creations in the various benches and tables scattered throughout the park.
It's worth noting that Dignita truly shines on sunny days and weekends. The abundance of natural light enhances the overall dining experience, and the opportunity to bask in the sun while savoring your meal adds an extra touch of bliss.
The service at Dignita was impeccable, with the staff demonstrating genuine warmth and attentiveness throughout my visit. Their knowledge of the menu and their recommendations showcased their passion for the culinary creations they serve.
In conclusion, Dignita in Amsterdam is a brunch haven that offers an exceptional dining experience. Its idyllic location within the museum's backyard, combined with the mouthwatering poached eggs on squashed fried potatoes, sets the stage for a memorable meal. Whether you secure a table in the cozy restaurant or opt for a picnic in the adjacent park, Dignita is a must-visit destination that will leave you...
Read moreI went to Dignita today with a friend for the first time and I have to say that since I have lived in Amsterdam I have never experienced such poor and rude service. But let's start with the good things: The food tastes really delicious. We ordered something on the spot to-go, since we had not made a reservation. The lady with a long blonde braid who "welcomed" us (more said immediately she didn't have any free spots) already seemed very stressed and was a bit rude, but when it's busy, that can happen. The to-go orders were called out loudly. After about half an hour, the lady from the reception shouted out a large Americano and a coffee, to which no one responded, which she registered with great displeasure. Then finally our order was ready too. We went up front to pick it up. When I asked if that was the avocado crumble, she just screamed my name right in my face that I ordered on. That was already awkward, in front of everyone. Next I said that our two coffees, two cappuccinos with oat milk, were still missing. She then called out in a loud voice that she had called 3 times and pointed to the large Americano and the coffee that were still in front of her. I pointed out to her that this was not our order and therefore not our fault. She sighed loudly and said sourly that someone else must have taken our coffees then and said we should go inside with her. Then she ordered a staff member to make new coffees for us in a tone that remained stressed and angry and stormed right back out. He then told us that there was no more oat milk either. At least he was nice and said that this happened before when I told him that this is no way how to treat customers. We got our money back for the coffee, but the whole experience was very uncomfortable and bad. Again: this is no way to treat a customer, no matter how stressed you are. I have never experienced that before and she didn't even apologize for the whole situation. If you go to a café or restaurant you want to be treated kindly since we are all looking forward to human interaction after this long lockdown. Very unfortunate as the location and restaurant itself...
Read moreThe worst dining experience I ever had in Amsterdam even though the food was good. My friend was very excited about having brunch here, as her restaurant’s boss took her here before and she thought it would be nice to share those “lekker” food with us. As we all know it’s hard to find a sunny day in Amsterdam, that day was the best for us sisters outing. Happily we stepped into the restaurant, with birds chirping and sun shining.
The girl behind the bar just told us to go outside and wait. I wasn’t sure what she was saying, but my friend who also did part time job thought we were asked to check out ourselves out there. Being a waitress, she understood that it’s busy during that time and perhaps we have to do such things ourselves.
Just when we were checking, another girl came dropping a strong comment and turned around without any respect, as she’s the mother educating her children in public. “Do not touch other people’s computer. It’s private!” My friend tried to say something to explain, and she just ignored us and walked away. Later she came back, said the same thing twice.
Yes of course we know this is what the staff is in charge with, but we were kicked out without any guidance and we thought it would be helpful to do so. Still, that should not be the reason why we touch that computer setting right in front of the door with nobody around it.
The meal was good but our day was ruined. And I would never come back to this restaurant again, because whenever I’m here, such experience of being disrespected publicly will hit my head, just as so many times I experienced here in...
