3/8 morning I figured me and my partner left our passports in our previous hotel Park Centraal safe that we just checked out yesterday. So I went straight to the hotel around 11 and asked the reception girl called Andrea. I told her the situation that I have left my passport in the save. Without hesitation she made the statement right away that “it’s def not in the save” becuz the house keeping will ALWAYS check the save once the guest check out. So 10 minutes after I told her it’s impossible it’s not in there cuz I always leaves my passport in the save and while our stay we have never taken them out. That’s the moment when she changed her statement and told me it’s was too early to call the guest who currently stay in a room right now. So she said she will email me before 2 pm. Because she needs the permission to go to the room and check the save. it’s really funny because the housekeeping can knock on the door and pretty much go in anytime, but they couldn’t just knock on the door and ask to check the save that should have be checked when the previous guest checked out? So I left. While the waiting time we called multiple times and every single time we called the reception whoever picked up the phone always reply be like “it’s def not in there” to the point we told them “if it’s not in there then we would have to call the police to do the full on investigation.” And then again asked us to wait and told us they gonna call us back in 10 mins which they didn’t do it. So around 2pm we went straight to the hotel again. And Andrea said they tried to call the current guest many time, but they didn’t pick up the phone so they cannot get permission to get into the room, which I understand. But in the morning she told me she would try to contact and now it’s already 2pm. You are telling me that u still can’t reach the guest? There’s only one possibility is that the guest didn’t come back to the room yesterday.
I even proposed. We don’t even have to go into the room just let the housekeeping go into the room unless it has “Do not disturb” sign and put the password we set up!! Until we started to make our statement very strong that’s the moment she finally said “ok I’m texting the guest now just waiting for their persimmon.”Which the hotel can do long time ago, but NO they had to wait til we there and gave them pressure to start the action. Finally, she said she got a permission so we went up together so me and my partner went upstairs with her and stayed outside waiting for her to go in and check the save. Surprise, surprise, surprise! Of course, our passport is in the safe! So the hotel didn’t really do the a good management on their staff which they said they ALWAYS CHECK THE SAVE ONCE THE GUEST CHECK OUT. Which I can sort of understand yall try to protect the hotel name, but don’t make the statement right away telling it’s the guest fault. Is it bcuz we have checked out already so our needs isn’t the priority anymore? I’m just surprised how the hotel deal with such an emergency thing like this. But anyways I don’t blame everything on the reception girl. It’s not complicated her fault, but def need to work on how to communicate with customers and prioritize their needs. Had such a bad impression on this hotel after...
Read moreGreat location, especially for a city trip. You have lots of restaurants and bars around and you have short distance walks to the main sights. The breakfast is super yummy, great selection and everything is really fresh. Great buffet selection and also you can choose from breakfast made to order (as much as you like). The hotel itself is very stylish and well maintained and the staff is very friendly. We booked a suite and a regular room. The regular room was quite small, shower and toilet is literally next to the bad and only separated by a glass door. However this room was located to the backyard which was great as it was really quiet. The suite however was really specious with a separate bathroom and couch area. The room was located towards the street and this was a huge problem. The streetlights are illuminating the entire room (curtains are to short / you can’t close them entirely - for whatever reason) and the major problem is the noise level. The tram literally drives through your room and always rings the bell while passing the windows (single glazed). Once the tram stops running - at some point during the night - you can hear all the noise from the party people passing the hotel. It was super disturbing and we couldn’t really sleep all night. We asked for another room after one night, however as the hotel was fully booked the only possibility was to downgrade 2 or 3 room categories. And the refund was not very attractive - but still we choose the option as the suite was not an option for another night. As our kid got sick on the second day we decided to leave early and didn’t change rooms as originally planned. The organization with early check-out was okay and the staff was quite helpful. The parking situation in the hotel garage is also a bit tricky with a big car and you need to book the parking...
Read moreWe overall, enjoyed our stay at Park Centraal.
The location cannot be beat, you can walk absolutely everywhere and the museums are all extremely close by.
We appreciated the bike rental option and had a great time using them.
Loved the two TV options in the bedroom, made for a cozier stay.
The vegan muffins every morning at the bar, were a highlight - yum!
The A/C wasn't very strong and we ended up being very hot every night of our stay, this was in late May of this year. It was very uncomfortable, so I would worry about that if you are booking. Since keeping the window open wouldn't be an option due to the noise.
I use a sound machine and still found the noise from the street very, very loud. It sounds like the window in the room is completely open.
However, I took an entire star off due to the absolutely abhorrent Wi-Fi. The internet connection was horrible. My husband was working during this trip and joining meetings was almost impossible for either of us to use pleasure or for business.
I would caution business travelers from this location simply due to the horrific Wi-Fi. I went downstairs to politely ask about it and was met with a confused front desk attendant, she was super rude and told me "everyone is on the Wi-Fi so it's slow"... like obviously, haha. Everyone else I interacted with at the hotel was nothing but kind, to be clear.
The gym was well equipped, however the water machine was broken for the whole week which made getting refills difficult. I had to use water from a conference that was at the hotel, which they didn't seem happy about. There was good equipment though, but the exercise mats could use an upgrade or proper wipe down.
Overall, this is a great place but the Wi-Fi and the A/C must be improved...
