Restaurant Renilde — Restaurant in Rotterdam

We dined at Renilde, and unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience. We opted for the 6-course menu, but the portion sizes were so enormous that we felt bloated by the third course. The menu was heavily plant-based, with just one chicken dish and one seafood dish, making the price feel unjustified. To make matters worse, nearly every dish included some sort of foam—clearly, they were overly excited about a new foam machine. By the end, we were completely tired of it.

To add to the frustration, they served us the main dish before the starter. They only realized the mistake after we had already finished our main course. Since it was a surprise menu, we hadn’t noticed until they brought out the missed starter dishes. As an apology, they served us three glasses of an experimental red wine, even though we were in the middle of enjoying a bottle of dry white wine. The red wine clashed with the moment and ruined the vibe even further.

Very confusing 6-courses diner with pairing wines, had to wait 45 mins for the amuse to come which was foam floating on oil, not tasty and not a great base to continue. Portions were too big, the plates were overwhelming in both size, smell, taste and looks, very unbalanced. The wines were almost experimental. Young wines poured straight from the bottle without having had some air (-and especially organic they smell way too acid, I was disgusted by the smell alone and the taste was really unpleasant as well) The alcohol free wine smelled like cough syrup and was not tasty either. After the 4rd course out of 6 we called it a day and just could not eat anymore and no-one in the group could process all the above. Even the butter with bread was too much, not just butter but mixed with cream cheese or so while we were all desperate for a neutral. Januari 2021 In de avond gegeten en het vegetarische 3 gangen menu en een fles witte wijn besteld. Je kan geen losse gerechten van de kaart bestellen, maar voor een 3, 4 of 5 gangen menu kiezen. Je hebt ruime keuze uit witte en rode wijnen of een wijn-arragement. En 2 bier soorten.

Het waren totaal nieuwe smaken en combinaties die ik nog nooit zo gegeten had. Denk aan bijvoorbeeld zeelkraal gemaakt tot risotto met een soort geklopte karnemelk saus: en ja dat is heerlijk hoe de chef dat heeft bereid. De obers leggen het gerecht beter uit dan ik doe uiteraard.

Voor mij een van de beste maaltijden in een restaurant die ik heb gegeten, vooral omdat elk gerecht uniek is qua smaak en combinatie. Combinaties waar je zelf nooit op zou komen.

Bediening was goed en vriendelijk en je kan op je gemak dineren. Tussen de gerechten zit ook genoeg tijd om het te laten zakken. Het is carte blanche, dus wat je krijgt weet je nooit. Na het diner was ik voldaan en je kan altijd wat extra vers brood bestellen als je meer wilt. Niet heel goedkoop, maar ook weer wel aangezien er veel moeite en aandacht aan de gerechten is besteed. De aangeboden fles water kost 6 euro zag ik achteraf, maar al dat geld gaan naar vers water projecten.

Vergeet niet dat je een fenomenaal uitzicht over de stad hebt. Ook savonds kan je buite nog een rondje door de daktuin lopen.

Nogmaals gegeten en het vegetarische menu is nog steeds erg lekker. Leek beetje op wat ik de eerste keer at, maar dan wel weer met totaal andere ingrediënten. Het 3 gangen menu bestaat niet meer en is nu 4 gangen.

Een groot minpunt is het geld dat ze vragen voor water. Ze vermelden niet dat dit geld kost, €4.5 per glas! En volgens mij gaat t geld niet meer naar projecten. Komt gewoon uit de kraan of een machine. Belachelijk eigenlijk. Ook konden we aan het eind kiezen voor het toetje of een kaasplankje, maar ook dan zeggen ze niet dat je 6.5 euro p.p. betaald als je de kaasplank neemt.
