Well maintained, gardeners were all over taking care of the flowers, clean, quiet, the riverside was amazing. It's a shame that the main building is being demolished, it's such a beautiful building. The works are not actually obtrusive neither too loud, but they do affect the bathroom availability in that area. There should be more public bathrooms available and a bit more care for the existing ones to keep them fresh. The botanical garden is the star of the show and I loved the flowers on display and the patio available for seating.

Here you find an expected gift shop, restaurant, toilets as well as a two-room display setup with interesting information about the Garden and Christchurch's long history and interest in gardening as well as local and foreign flora. We particularly like the small section where you can listen to the sounds of indigenous birds of New Zealand. Definitely worth spending 10-15 minutes at the Visitor Centre wen visiting the Botanic Garden for the first time.

Wonderful place to stop. Highly recommend! Beautiful gardens to walk through. Cafe was great with some delicious eats and tea. The gift shop was probably one of the best gift shops I’ve been in. We could have spent a ton of money and fun things.

The Visitor Centre at the Botanic Gardens is a really useful facility and architecturally stunning. Its a great cafe in a charming setting with excellent coffee and yummy food as well as a sensible selection of beer and wine. Theres an elegant shop with botanically themed gifts, a meeting room and a botanical specimens library for serious botanists. The Botanical Gardens which provide the setting are one of my favourite places in all the world, a wonderful place to wander whatever the season or...
