You know a home store is superior when it shows you items you didn’t know you needed, but now MUST have. My husband and I collected three items - all made with indigenous wood by local craftspeople: a Tōtara coffee scoop, a black maire chopper(!), and a stainless steel with a turned pōhutukawa handle ice cream scoop (perfection). We wanted to buy it all; but couldn’t figure out how to get it to the States. Guess we might have to ship…

Beautiful shop that sells fine things here. From hand made perfume, aromatherapy, candles, woodcraft, ceramics, etc. All collected from all over New Zealand from the best. It's quite expensive but it's worth it. If you want to get some fine souvenirs or indulge yourself then this is one of the places. Very recommended!

Frances Nation Home is an absolutely lovely place! The warmth and kindness of the staff truly reflect the friendly and welcoming spirit we’ve come to associate with New Zealanders. They were always ready to offer help with a smile, making our experience even more enjoyable.

We deeply appreciated the store’s focus on handmade crafts, which showcases a genuine artisan spirit and dedication to quality. During our visit, we bought three unique hats, each with its own charm. These hats will always remind us of the wonderful time we spent here and the special memories we made.

This business responded 140 days later and didn't address any of the issues raised (and instead made a vague excuse).

You can draw your own conclusions from this information regarding their care for customers.

Original Review:

Incompetent or just don't care about customers?

I arrived to find this shop shut with an illegible note on the door, enquired with staff and were rudely told "NO" when asked if they were open.

No information on their website or social media about being shut, all hours and published details described they were open.

I would strongly recommend avoiding this shop, as they may not be open (irrespective of what their website says), and you probably don't want to...
