Boat Shed Cafe — Restaurant in Christchurch

It was ok-ish. Being in hospital and not having much other cafes or food places open close by on the weekend, we thought we'd give this place a try. Almost walked out because of how expensive the food was but as my partner is in hospital and I hadn't eaten since lunchtime yesterday we decided to spend the little money we have to get something filling. I got a stack of pancakes with bacon and banana but after I physically couldn't eat anymore because of how gluggy and undercooked they were my partner asked them to make another plate and cook them properly. While slightly better it was still so gluggy and sickly I couldn't even get through half of it which is frustrating because we spent a bit of money on it, definitely tastes like a packet mix, which is ridiculous for $25 pancakes and a few strips of overcooked bacon. Lovely greeting, prompt service, attentive wait persons, delicious food, buzzy atmosphere... Buuuuut I don't know how anyone could drink their coffee 👅💩 it looked disgusting & tasted stale!! Don't usually say anything.. But I've worked in this industry for 30 yrs & thought I'd let them know.. Nicely .. Maybe the hadn't tried the coffee themselves today???? They made me another... It was worse.. Absolutely vile!! We got up and left and coffee was left behind!! No one even followed up on the 2nd1! For a country of coffee Enthuisiasts!!! This busy bustling cafe is being let down by their coffee beans & or baristas ☕️👎🏼they already seem to be making a fortune!! If they improved their coffee and communication skills profit would be up as patrons would order a 2nd cup perhaps ??? Best of luck ... I won't be back for a wake up shot!! Sad thing is food is awesome!!!...

Hey boat shed cafe. We came for brunch on Saturday and had an amazing time. Mostly because of a waitress named Hayley. I called before arrival because we were bringing my brother who had autism a d Down syndrome. I asked if it were possible to make something for him that wasn't exactly on the menu and she was super accommodating, checked with the chef and gave me a price etc. She also selected a table for us that wouldn't be too busy. When we arrived she immediately took care of us, was incredibly attentive and really made us feel comfortable. As any caregiver of a disabled person knows, being treated with respect,understanding and even humour in this kind of situation is a blessing.
