Duck Island Ice Cream — Attraction in Devonport-Takapuna

100% recommend this place if you are ever around Takapuna and are looking for ice cream. This place was jam packed when I went so you might be expecting a bit of a queue but it was definitely worth it !! Really love the texture of the ice cream, just really smooth and creamy.

Flavours: Salted caramel with cacao crumb 6.8/10 Pecan butter scotch 👍 7.8/10

Salt caramel with cacao crumb: Really loved how the caramel was a bit bitter as it provides a really nice depth of flavour. Cacao crumb worked really well with the salted caramel icecream in terms of flavour and texture.

Pecan butterscotch: Probably my favourite out of the two flavours as it is overall more well balanced. Very creamy and smooth vanilla ice cream and when paired with butterscotch pecan bits, it was just next level.

We were on-route to Island Gelato Newmarket on NY eve when a tiny backseat voice piped try Duck island, it has Fairy bread! Glad we detoured..

Can't fault the service, beautiful customer care from Rowan relieving Ponsonby team member. Handy location 3mins walking distance to Taka beach. Liked the clean, spacious layout, good energy flow & the little touches, water/tray. Originally the plan was Fairy bread but far too heavy, rich as the pecan butterscotch but the Blueberry buttermilk & gooey butter cake w bioche chunks & fresh blueberries hit the spot as did the Strawberry coconut lime leaf. If you like makrut lime, this is a winner, light, very refreshing & also very popular, had sold out. Most of the ice-creams were quite rich but by golly very moreish & its nice to see you can actually taste the ingredients used. Merci Duck island, you've given Island Gelato a run for its money,...

To “Squinted eyes employee” Best ice cream in town but squinted eyes young lady seems like she got no patience, walks away mid ordering while I was choosing a flavor and seems like she doesn’t want to serve and look for other customers and completely ignores me and my friend for a good minute until she decides to walk back and stare at us. This lady acts all good and fine with the western couple in front of me while she treated us asians as if we do not understand english… or understand her mumbling english

She also has the audacity to shout CONE or CUP when i was ordering. Is this how you provide customer service?
