Studio Sweat — Local services in Devonport-Takapuna

This place has left a bad impression unfortunately. On one hand, the space is beautiful and well maintained. On the other hand it is diabolically inconvenient in every little detail. The room for couples sauna has only one hook and one small basket. Two people should somehow be able to put their coats, clothes, bags, and towels on that one hook and in that one small basket. There is a rain shower, but no shampoo and NO HAIRDRYER. There is nowhere to sit down while putting on your shoes, there is nowhere to put your makeup on (there’s a mirror in the room but it is dark and no shelf to set down your makeup bag next to the mirror). All in all it was just very annoying, kinda defeats the purpose of coming to this type of places for a relaxing experience.

UPD: The establishment’s reply to my review sums up their approach to customer‘s comfort. So, it is not the studio’s fault in any way that the design is so bad and inconvenient. Here are some simple steps in order for you as a customer to have a more enjoyable experience, according to their reply: Do not bring any kind of a bag. You need to carry your phone, flip flops, a hairbrush, some basic skincare/makeup? Tough luck. Do not assume that a rain shower means you will be able to dry your hair. Instead contort your body in a way that your hair does not get wet. Do not bring a hairdryer with you - you can’t bring a bag, remember? You want to put your shoes on sitting down? Well all you gotta do is walk barefoot from the sauna room to the reception area and you can sit down. Don’t assume that you’d be able to keep all your belongings with you. Instead ask the reception to store your coats. If this seems like a lot of steps or too much mental load, you just don’t know how to have a relaxing...
