Pak’nSave Sylvia Park is one of the better options if you’re after cheap groceries but still want a cleaner, more modern shopping experience. Being located right next to the Sylvia Park shopping centre gives it a bit of an edge — it feels a little more polished than some of the older Pak’nSaves around Auckland, and the vibe is a bit less hectic, at least during off-peak hours.

The store itself is fairly new, well-lit, and spacious. Aisles are wide enough to get through without having to constantly dodge other trolleys, and the layout makes sense. It’s still got that classic Pak’nSave look — plain, functional, no fancy extras — but it’s more pleasant to walk around than somewhere like Papakura or Royal Oak.

Prices are solid. You’ll find all the usual weekly deals and budget-friendly bulk items. If you’re planning a big shop or trying to save a bit each week, this place delivers. The produce section is usually well-stocked and fresher than average. Same goes for the meat department — good variety, and the quality seems to be a bit more consistent here compared to other branches. The bakery has your standard breads and rolls, nothing gourmet, but decent for everyday needs.

Staff are generally helpful. They’re not going to chase you down to offer assistance, but if you ask someone, they’ll usually point you in the right direction or find what you need. Checkout times can vary — self-service is available and useful for smaller shops, while the manned checkouts are hit-or-miss depending on the time of day.

Parking is actually pretty good since it shares space with Sylvia Park Mall. There’s heaps of it, and it’s not as chaotic as some other Pak’nSave carparks. That said, it can get busy during peak shopping hours or weekends, especially when the mall is packed, but it’s manageable and definitely better than the tight squeeze at places like Royal Oak.

One minor issue is that, like with other Pak’nSaves, not everything listed online matches what’s available in-store. So if you’re going in for something specific you saw on the website, be prepared for it to be out of stock or just not stocked at this location.

All up, Pak’nSave Sylvia Park strikes a pretty good balance — you get the low prices and variety that Pak’nSave is known for, but with a cleaner, more organised store layout and a bit less stress. It’s a solid option if you’re in the area and don’t mind skipping the frills to get...

Good local supermarket but their produce section is terrible! Especially compared to other Pak n Saves and supermarkets, plus what you do get is horribly over priced, we now go to Manukau PnS or G.I because their produce sections are much better for the prices and deals. Overall it's ok as our local but could be heaps better

-------------------**

Felt like i needed to update my original 3 star review for Pak N Save Sylvia Park, Unfortunately their supermarket has gotten far worse then what it used to be, produce is no better, sometimes worse and their prices just dont reflect the produce, why would i pay $3 for a lettuce head that is brown and black with barely any green on it and is smaller then the size of my hand?

Their meat section is terrible, i refuse to buy any of my meat there anymore, it became extremely hard to find any meat that wasnt terrible looking, smelt horrible and tasted even worse.

The Deli section is the same, i have gotten a few salads from there recently and the eggs have been off, the coleslaw was grey and horribly bitter etc

They have reduced the variety available and some of the items they dropped were popular among customers

Their freezers seem to be always breaking down leaving the food to crystalise etc, we got ice cream the other day from a what appeared to be turned off freezer and when we got it home it was yellow and icy inside of it.

I also witnessed a staff member take a fish pack from a shelf where someone left it and put it back in the seafood fridge - i mean come on you dont know how long it had been left out like that.

The other thing is they have a frozen section opposite the seafood counter so if you collect something from there it has started to thaw by the time you do your shopping, why cant they move it to where the frozen items are near the checkouts?

anyway i could go on about this place but I have now started going to a different supermarket alot further away then this one which is only up the road, Pak n Save Sylvia Park your standards obviously keep dropping which is a real shame as you used to be fantastic once...

PAK'nSAVE Sylvia Park is a decent place to shop for groceries, but there are a few areas that could use some improvement, resulting in a three-star rating from my recent visit.

One of the highlights of shopping at PAK'nSAVE Sylvia Park is their competitive pricing. They consistently offer lower prices compared to other supermarkets, which is a major draw for budget-conscious shoppers. The store is spacious and well-stocked, with a wide variety of products available, making it easy to find most of what you need in one place.

However, the overall shopping experience could be enhanced. The store layout can be confusing, with some sections feeling cramped and difficult to navigate, especially during busy hours. This makes it challenging to move through the aisles smoothly and can lead to frustration when trying to locate specific items.

Another area that needs attention is customer service. While some staff members are friendly and helpful, others seem less approachable and reluctant to assist. This inconsistency in service can detract from the overall experience. Additionally, the checkout process can be quite slow, with long lines and not enough open registers to handle the volume of customers efficiently.

Cleanliness is generally maintained, but there have been instances where the store could use a bit more attention, particularly in high-traffic areas. Ensuring that shelves are well-organized and that spills or messes are promptly addressed would improve the shopping environment.

In summary, PAK'nSAVE Sylvia Park offers great value for money with its competitive prices and extensive product range. However, improvements in store layout, customer service, and checkout efficiency would significantly enhance the shopping experience. It's a reliable place for budget shopping, but there are aspects that need refinement to make it more enjoyable and convenient...

This is a typical deceptive Kiwi supermarket of very poor quality customer service. In fact, Pak'nSave faces criminal charges over pricing, misleading specials, and I experienced that today at Sylvia Park shop. I bought a pack of Almonds and it says clearly on the display section that it is $9.99 on top of the shelf. It was written on the board very big and it even says "Super Deal". However, when I went through check-out and had a look at the receipt, I found that the price was "$15.49". So, I went to a customer service desk there to complain about it. But they told me that the price was correct and someone must have taken it from a different shelf and put it there willfully. So I said to them that that does not make sense because there is no other shelf where you can find the same product and there were many of the same products there on the shelf and all the products on the shelf where I picked it up are the same kind by the same food company with the same packaging, so I asked them to take me to the different shelf where they claim that the product that I picked up originally came from, but they failed to prove what they were saying to me! So I got angry and told them to give me the money back in exchange for this pack of Almonds that I bought. They gave me the money back, however, they never say "sorry" as usual with this country called new zealand or old zealand or whatever with full of stupid vain pride, wickedness and inconsideration to others.
