Title: A Timeless Treasure in the Heart of Wellington - Old Bank Arcade

Walking into the Old Bank Arcade is like stepping through a portal where the charm of yesteryear and the vibrancy of modern Wellington meet. Nestled in the heart of the city, this historical gem not only tells the tale of Wellington's rich past but also showcases a unique shopping and dining experience that is second to none.

From the moment you set foot inside, the stunning architecture captivates your senses. The preservation of the Victorian design, combined with tasteful modern enhancements, creates an ambiance that is both elegant and welcoming. The attention to detail in maintaining the heritage of the building, while providing a contemporary retail experience, is truly commendable.

The variety of boutiques housed within the arcade is remarkable. Whether you're in search of high-end fashion, unique New Zealand-made gifts, or exquisite jewelry, the Old Bank Arcade has something for everyone. Each store offers a diverse selection of quality products, making it the perfect place to find that special something for yourself or a loved one.

But the Old Bank Arcade isn't just about shopping; it's a culinary delight as well. The selection of eateries within the arcade caters to all tastes, from cozy cafés serving the perfect flat white to restaurants offering mouth-watering cuisine that will satisfy any foodie. The quality of food and service is consistently impressive, providing a truly enjoyable dining experience.

One of the most captivating features of the Old Bank Arcade is its historical significance, particularly the grand vault, which serves as a fascinating reminder of the building’s original purpose. It's not just a shopping and dining destination; it's a piece of Wellington's history, preserved and celebrated in the most beautiful way.

Moreover, the customer service throughout the arcade is exceptional. The shop owners and staff are not only knowledgeable about their products but also genuinely enthusiastic about sharing the stories behind them. This level of personal attention adds to the overall experience, making every visit memorable.

In conclusion, the Old Bank Arcade is a must-visit destination for both locals and tourists. It’s a place where history, culture, shopping, and dining intermingle to create a truly distinctive experience. Whether you're there to indulge in a bit of retail therapy, enjoy a delicious meal, or simply soak in the historic ambiance, the Old Bank Arcade will not disappoint. The Old Bank Shopping Arcade (ex-BNZ building) is full of 'olde' world charm with its mosaic tile-flooring, high ornate ceilings, moldings, columns, wooden fixtures and fittings of a bygone era. If you're nostalgic for yesteryear, a trip to this neck of the woods would be therapeutic as shops here have embraced the old along with the new. A string of banners outside the building facing Customhouse Quay, advertises the presence of these shops within the arcade.

Cocooned from the hectic traffic just metres away the general pace within the walls of the Arcade is palpably slower, more gracious and much more relaxing. And then there are unique, points of interest to check out if you're a first-time visitor, such as the prominent, arcade clock and more*.

This is such a fun visit in downtown Wellington! Not only is it a beautifully restored historical bldg, but aside from the shopping and eating options, there are hidden little gems to discover! There is a little bit of a museum display of the old ship that was unburied on the grounds here with some really cool artifacts and parts of the ship itself! But, the thing to see here is the animated, singing clock that “performs” once an hour about 2-3mins before the hour. The best view is from the second floor. The little clock show, with fully animated dioramas telling the history of NZ & Wellington within the clock with accompanying music and narration is a sight to behold and is worth a visit to see in...
