A great place - if you like beer.
The beech tree's beer menu is extensive, and I think it would be great. We, however, are not beer drinkers. Their flavoured cider jars were just their apple cider with a bit of syrup in the bottom and we could barely taste the difference (luckily it was pretty much the same price as the regular cider would have been). Their mango & lime cider was all out, which felt unusual given the bar was just hitting its peak when I tried to order it.
The space was a little cramped, and quite hot. There was also a leaky ceiling addressed only with a bucket on the floor collecting the drip, right in the main thoroughfare (given the bar area is filled with patrons in line). There were only two bathrooms (not enough for the size of the establishment), and were not well-stocked with hand towels. This was an especially annoying problem as most of the food at the beech tree is wings and ribs covered in sticky sauces.
We ordered the wings and ribs platter for two. This dish requires you to choose 2 sauces or dry rubs for wings, which is not made particularly clear on the menu. It would be much better to list all the options with that menu item. Instead, when ordering I had to frantically scan the menu before finding the list paired with the basic wings.
There is no indication of how hot the wings are. I'm ok with spice, but these were a lot, and I had no clue until the wings were in my mouth. They are covered in a sticky, spicy sauce and with only a small supply of napkins at the table, and the poorly-stocked bathrooms, I suffered. They were however, quite tasty.
The ribs and onion rings were a standout on the platter, and the wings probably would have been ok if we had the knowledge to order a dry-rub rather than the sauced wings.
I wouldn't come here expecting more than an average pub feed, but if you like beer, and you're mainly coming for a drink, you'd probably have a much better...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting Beech tree, and I must say, it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The atmosphere of the place is fantastic, with a cozy and inviting ambiance that makes you feel right at home.
The service was top-notch. The staff were friendly, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable about the extensive selection of beers they offer. Speaking of which, the variety of beers available is truly impressive. With over 26 different types of beers to choose from, there's something for every beer enthusiast.
But it's not just about the beer. The food served at [Name of the Beer Bar] is equally remarkable. From delicious appetizers to mouthwatering main courses, everything I tried was absolutely delicious.
Overall, I highly recommend beech tree to anyone looking for a memorable beer-drinking experience. Whether you're a beer aficionado or just looking for a great place to hang out with friends, you won't be disappointed. I can't wait to visit...
Read moreThe atmosphere and service were great, unfortunately the downfall was the food…. We ordered the steak, chips and salad for dinner and it was probably the worst food I had this whole trip. The steak was so chewy I couldn’t eat it, we even struggled cutting it with the steak knife. The chips were somehow both soggy and burnt?? No flavour and not crisp at all. The salad was basically just rocket, that’s all. It also took a really long time to be cooked.. We also ordered the cheese and bacon garlic bread as an entree. It came after the steak, no biggy but it was incredibly gross, rock hard bread and just a sad looking dish in general. We had just finished a 13 hour day tour and was starving, so we managed to eat it but if I had received this when I had time to complain, I absolutely would have...
