Extremely Disappointing and Dangerous Experience

I usually never write reviews, but this time I have to. It’s been over two months since I rented ski equipment from your shop, and I’m still unable to do basic sports activities due to a fractured shoulder - an injury caused by your poorly maintained equipment and unprofessional service.

On the afternoon of 13th August, we came to your shop in Queenstown to rent skis and poles for a few days. We went straight to Coronet Peak for night skiing. As soon as I got off the first lift, I noticed one of my poles was broken (see photo), meaning I had to ski the entire evening with just one pole since your shop is about 45 minutes away. Unfortunately, that was only the beginning.

Throughout the evening, my skis kept coming off my boots after every bump or quick stop. I fell multiple times at high speed, which made me realise something was seriously wrong. I’ve been skiing since I was three years old and even competed as a child — so I know when the equipment isn’t working properly.

When I returned to the shop the next day and explained everything, the same two young staff members from the day before apologised and said it was likely an issue with the “clip,” which caused the skis to keep unclipping. They replaced the skis and poles, but by then my shoulder was already in severe pain. When I returned to Sydney and saw a doctor, the X-rays confirmed a fractured shoulder.

This was an extremely dangerous and painful experience caused by poor maintenance and lack of care. I would strongly not recommend this rental...

WOW Ski Hire NZ Frankton have changed our ski lives for the better- I can not comprehend that I have previously paid double up on the mountain for way inferior equipment. To arrive at the Remarkables and see the winding lines to get equipment could have been soul destroying. instead we went to the store in Frankton and my kids were patiently and expertly fitted by Tom and Chloe- this time with boots that actually fitted them and way nicer skis. Best part is its right next to the airport so we can drop it off easily on the way to the flight home with out having to go through the mission of Queenstown with parking. This is a no brainer for ski equipment. As a side note as a snowboarder with my own board I was amazed by there board selection and next season will give a few alternate...

If you're like me you're looking for a dependable ski hire place with good rates and equipment. Well the good news is that you can stop looking. We did a three day hire and couldn't fault them. We did 1 day skiing and then 2 days snowboarding and swapped at no extra charge. You walk in and stand on a machine that measures your feet for the perfect boot size and you're in and out in 10 minutes. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and they're open until 10pm so you can swap or return skis after your final day or pick them up the day before you head up.
