It took us 12 min to drive to Grey Lynn to finally visit this vegan cafe called Tart Bakery. I had to go try their food ! Can't say that it was a disappointment, so please know i am not making a complaint - i'll lead to my point & suggestion at the end. The vegan pies & pizza were awesome! It was just a downer to discover that staff wouldn't give out any plates or cutleries or cups for you to dine in at. It's all just paper plates, paper bag, and paper cup. I have my own coffee mug and travel cutleries in the car, but I had to grab a dog with a thick blanket, + a camera bag. I didn't have the chance to go get the mug when ordering the drink at the counter. I expected to be given a porcelain mug when I was going to eat in. It felt quite informal. it was actually quite cold & windy that day. But with a dog, we needed to sit outside. Having only paper containers while sitting outside didn't make the experience better despite the healthy good food. I understand that it will eliminate the need to wash any dishes. So now that I know, I just make sure to take my own plates and mugs with me next time to the counter :) I recommend the pie & the pizza. They were so yummy - the pizza I brought home to put in the oven, because i was given it cold by the staff. It was amazing after going through the oven! The almond croissant etc I bought just to try were way to sweet. If you like extremely sweet things, they're yummy. I feel the sugar level need to be turned down by 70%.

Been visiting this place for years and used to love it but the quality has decreased over time while the prices stay high. The last few orders were disappointing, with the pies tasting entirely different to usual, very salty(?) can't quite pinpoint, and the fruit pastries not tasting like anything but pastry. The only consistent thing is donuts. But it's no wonder people say veganism is classist when you can go to another bakery and buy a $1.50 donut, meanwhile here it's $6 for the same. With all respect and much sadness, I will not be visiting Tart again.

Bought their pie & sandwich for late lunch and it contradicts from the sign outside. I definitely cannot say it's the best treats in the world.. I get what they are trying to do, but this is over exaggeration. The pie was dry and not warm enough for me. Lastly, the sandwich had way too much butter to compensate for dense bread and salad in the sandwich was wilted and lost the texture.. Overall experience was disappointing, but will try again in the future.

My favourite place to eat! Always makes my day OK! The staff are so personable and generous with their energy and personalities. They are so warm and caring. Obviously a lot of love goes into the food as it is cruelty free and the menu is constantly being altered to suit the clientele and keep it interesting and exciting, but more surprisingly and possibly more importantly is the love that goes into the customer Service. I never feel like a customer. I have always felt like a valued good friend! Awesome and special experience! Always bring friends visiting Auckland here and they always love it. They love choosing a new And interesting plant milk for their consistently good coffee. Tart...

Tart, your food is amazing. I love all the range you have. Everything is cooked to perfection. I recommend it 100% HOWEVER, today Oct 9/21 at 11:30am after ordered my food I paid also for a long black and a Chai latte. The girl doing the coffee is new at it, she said it. Ok, yes, I was patient, all good, she is learning. But the true is she didn't have idea was she was doing! After 15 minutes she passed me the most horrible Chai latte I ever tasted and a hideous long black fill to the brim! The queue was so long at that moment. I just left because I could see her stressed face but please, it's better not to sell hot beverages if no one can make...
