Woolworths Metro Herne Bay — Attraction in Waitematā

I'm a local in Herne Bay and have been for a number of years. However, each time I've gone to this particular supermarket, I am constantly being watched. I understand security and surveillance given the crime within our society. However, when I've had staff hover over me watching everything I've scanned, it becomes a deplorable customer experience. When I confronted the lady about "profiling" and why I've never witnessed her treat other customers the same, she victimized herself. You can measure this by your own metrics but racism is prevelant in Herne Bay & Ponsonby and is something I will not tolerate. Needless to say other shoppers found my distress amusing. We won't be returning to that supermarket and will continue to shop at either Grey Lynn or Ponsonby Countdown instead!! I went into this supermarket and my partner decided to grab a couple cans of beer to go with dinner. As going through checkout asked for ID my partner showed us mine left at home. They rejected us. HOW DO JUSTIFY THAT IF A CHILD GOES WITH THEIR PARENT AND DOESN'T NEED ID CHECKING, BUT IF I GO WITH MY PARTNER I DO. Dumbest law ever. And bad staff with attitude from a guy worker. Loved our time here….. such a beautiful setup, pity the only bananas they had this morning were bruised. Not one to hold a grudge though! Never seen such a wide range of single serve chilled drinks 😱 Car park floor very squeaky, however there was music playing which softened the sound of the squealing tyres. All in all, very positive experience 🫦 probably won’t come here again, but will always think back to Countdown Herne Bay with fond memories. Thanks for the awesome...
