Auckland Zoo: A Roaring Good Time Auckland Zoo is a must-visit for animal lovers of all ages. With over 1,400 animals and 135 species, there's something for everyone to enjoy. The zoo is committed to conservation and education, and you can learn a lot about the animals and their habitats while you're there. What I loved: * The variety of animals: From the majestic African lions to the playful New Zealand fur seals, there's a wide range of animals to see. The zoo is also home to some rare and endangered species, such as the Sumatran tiger and the Bornean orangutan. The native animals were amazing to see in person. * The immersive exhibits: The zoo has done a great job of creating naturalistic habitats for the animals. You can walk through the rainforest, explore the African savanna, and even get up close and personal with the penguins in their icy enclosure. * The educational opportunities: There are plenty of opportunities to learn about the animals at Auckland Zoo. You can attend keeper talks, watch animal encounters, and even participate in behind-the-scenes tours. * The friendly staff: The staff at Auckland Zoo are passionate about their work and are always happy to answer questions. They're also great at keeping the zoo clean and tidy. Areas for improvement: Overall: Auckland Zoo is a fantastic place to visit. It's a great day out for the whole family and a wonderful way to learn about the animal kingdom. I highly recommend it! Tips for visiting: * Buy your tickets online in advance to save time. * Wear comfortable shoes as you'll be doing a lot of walking. * Bring a water bottle and sunscreen. * Check the zoo's website for daily keeper talks and animal encounters. * Consider becoming a member if you plan on visiting the zoo multiple times.

LIKE A RESORT I have enjoyed my whole trip around New Zealand and my last stop was the Auckland Zoo Unfortunately we were there on a day it was pouring with rain and was on a tight schedule, not all the animals were out enjoying their surroundings, choosing to hide out of the rain, smart move If your like me and are a bit concerned about seeing animals just in cages on display just to make me happy , you will be pleasantly surprised The enclosures are more like resorts for the animals , so well done. To me it is like if you went on a safari you wouldn’t expect to see anything but if you do it’s a bonus. The animals are able to hide and get out of the weather and I believe this means the carers care about the animals welfare rather than just been on display for the crowds If it was a nice day you could spend many hours trying to spot your favourite animal. Children would love to do this and after there is a great play area for children. There is a cafe and a dining area unfortunately we didn’t have time to stop and eat The ground is mainly flat , a small incline here and there but if you have limited mobility no problem the Zoo had many motorised scooters I’m assuming for hire, but please check with zoo if you need one before you arrive Parking is paid for in the Zoo car park but you can get three hours free if you park on the road at the bottom of the zoo entrance. We paid $29NZ , and cheaper if your a local, and I would say that is a bargain as I’m sure the animals are expensive to care for with different needs for all the different animals Thanks Auckland Zoo for caring for your animals by giving them such a beautiful enclosure as close to the wild as can be

This is hands down the best zoo I have ever visited, and I’ve been to zoos on five continents. The animals are clearly loved and cared for, and efforts have been made to ensure that even elusive animals can be spotted if the viewer is patient. Example: the Night House for kiwis, which reverses day and night so that viewers can observe the nocturnal birds happily running around and hunting for food during the zoo’s daytime hours. The zoo is designed to engage all viewers as much as possible, particularly children, providing creative, educational, fun, and interactive experiences all through the facility. The habitats are simply beautiful, and the range of habitats, with appropriate climate and vegetation, is superb. We were also terribly impressed by the staff, both those employed by the zoo and the army of red-shirted volunteers, who simply make themselves available to help visitors and answer questions. Without exception, each person we encountered was warm, friendly, informative, and helpful. The animals, of course, are the stars of the show. Besides the kiwi, we especially loved the Tasmanian Devils, lions, orangutans, tigers, river otters, monkeys, and NZ birds besides the kiwis. We had a nice lunch on the deck at Tepuna Cafe and had watching the wild birds compete for crumbs. This was an unforgettable experience. We’d thought we’d spend about 3 hours there, and we actually stayed for 6. WOW.
