Hokitika Scenic Tours — Attraction in West Coast

Out family enjoyed an amazing time in Hokitika with special thanks to Rachel and her team at Hokitika Scenic Tours. Rachel went out of her way to source accommodation for our family of 2 adults and 4 young children, at short notice before the Easter period. We traveled via the Tranz Alpine from Chch to Greymouth on arrival in Greymouth Rachel picked us up & drove us to Shantytown, the following days we had another great driver Gary, who our children adored. He was extremely accomodating and went out of his way to make sure we where all good, even supplying bug repellent for us at the Hokitika Gorge walkway & often stoping to show us the history of Hokitika, we really appreciated all that they showed us and I can only recommend getting in touch with this great team of people to have a memorable holiday on the coast 😀 on our departure from Hokitika we where taken back to Greymouth to board the train, for ourselves and the children it was like saying see you later to a great friend we hope to see...

We toured the west coast of New Zealand with Hokitika Scenic Tours last month (April 2025). We wanted a custom tour so that we could interrupt the tour to spend two nights at the Wilderness Lodge. Rachel responded quickly and organized a wonderful itinerary for us. Because of our unusual tour, we had the pleasure of travelling with three different guides - Rachel, Bill, and Gary. My cousin and I booked the Lake Kaniere and Hokitika Gorge tour and honestly, it was one of the best tours we've been on. The Lake and other scenery was amazing and the Gorge was gorgeous. What really made the tour though was Callum, our guide. He had so much knowledge about the Maori history of the area, and its origins, not to mention his expertise on all the plant and tree life.
