One of the interesting landmarks in the city centre of Hokitika is the Town Clock located in the roundabout intersection of Weld and Sewell Streets.
This monument clock tower was erected in 1903 and serves as a memorial to the Westland dispatch of 130 mean who participated in the South African "Boer" War (1899-1902). It is a simple structure supported by four pillars. Clocks are embedded into each of the tower sides and the monument has an iron ornamental top and bell.
