Heritage Highway Motel — Hotel in South Island

Overall beds comfortable room tidy and warm enough. Disappointment was bathroom floor got very wet having a shower and even though says units were serviced daily they aren't. After being out all day getting back late to see unit hadn't been serviced and had to hang our very wet towels and soaking bath mat over back of dining chairs and suitcase stand to dry by heater overnight, one of which had a crack right through middle of it (was a wall panel type heater). Reading in info later it said units serviced Monday Wednesday and Friday. For the price we paid (which now seems cheaper on their website) was a bit disappointing. First time I have stayed in a motel with no service or change of towels. Was told when paying and leaving I was welcome to come and ask for fresh towels I didn't think I would have to. Office always had no one there was always locked and had to ring bell if wanted to checkout. Didn't see any motel people around during weekend stay. I have now seen room rates are different price than what I paid I paid a 1 bedroom rate but was in a studio unit.|I wouldn't probably stay...

Arrived at around 11:30pm. The office was closed however there were no self check in instructions provided, I double checked my email to make sure I didn’t miss something. Called the number about 4 times and left 2 voicemails. After ringing the bell for the office and knocking on door beside the office several times someone finally came out of the private door next to the office door in their pajamas, so I felt bad that they had to get out of bed and they did not seem too happy but I just wanted access to the room we booked after a very long day of driving. After getting the key the room was clean however all the windows were open so some bugs had gotten in. The bathroom could use a fan as it gets soaking wet from the shower steam and I got a bit of an electric shock turning on one of the switches. Otherwise the accommodations were nice, beds were comfortable and check out was easy. Office was still closed in the morning however there’s a box to drop the key...

Stayed twice in Jan. First stay was in unit 15, a two bedroom unit and found the couch very uncomfortable to sit on, as you could feel the springs underneath. Single beds also well worn. Second stay was in unit 7, a one bedroom unit. The room setup in the main room is rather unusual with the TV on the wall by the front door, but the couch is at a right angle on the far wall, down beside the double bed. Very hard to watch the TV from the other side of the room. The slow moving passing train at 3am each morning (just next to the motel) will wake up light sleepers.
