When visiting Bergen, taking a trip up to Fløyen using the Fløibanen funicular railway is highly recommended for tourists. A must-visit for any Bergen traveler, Fløyen offers a stunning panoramic view over the city, harbor, and surrounding fjords. The short yet scenic ride on the Fløibanen funicular takes you effortlessly from the city center up to Mount Fløyen, where the real magic begins.

Once at the top, visitors can relax with a coffee at the café, explore well-marked nature trails, or simply soak in the breathtaking vistas. The area is very accessible, making it suitable for all ages.

A charming and unexpected highlight is the presence of friendly mountain goats, each with its own name and personality. They freely roam near the viewing area and are accustomed to gentle interaction, delighting both children and adults.

Whether you're after a serene walk, family-friendly activity, or the perfect photo opportunity, Fløyen Panorama offers a complete...

What a spectacular view! My first time traveling to Norway and the AirBnB where I was staying is very close to the path leading up to this view. The tram was about a 5 minute walk, so I decided to take that instead of walking up.

A few small shops are at the top here. Including an ice cream place, small pastry/drink/ice cream shop and a small gift shop.

Once you're here, you can wander off the many trails, but they are pretty steep, but worth it. Also had goats wandering around too.

Once you're done, you can either take the tram back down or walk back downtown. Which takes about 40 minutes, but it's quite steep going down.

Highly recommend this observing place when...

This is the only way to see Bergen if you’re not fit enough, or mad enough to attempt the steep hike up the mountain. From the top the views everywhere are stunning, and then there are gorgeous forest trails, goats, and troll hunts! The elevation here is just right - high enough to give a clear view of the area, but not too high to make it appear distant. But get here early. We joined the line before 10 and were on the next funicular, but by lunchtime the queue was massive. Do this first and save the rest of the town for later. You can ride up and back, but we chose to ride up, and walk back down through the beautiful forest, which also has some great views at various points.

Fløyen Panorama is an absolute must-visit for anyone traveling to Bergen. Perched at the summit of Mount Fløyen, the views over the city and the surrounding fjords are simply breathtaking. Reaching the top via the Fløibanen cable car is a smooth and enjoyable experience, offering glimpses of the beautiful landscape on the way up. Once at the top, the panoramic view is incredible. You can see the entire city of Bergen sprawled below, with its colorful houses, the historic Bryggen wharf, and the serene waters of the fjord. On a clear day, you can see far beyond the city to the majestic mountains and islands that frame the horizon.
