This was not a review I thought I would ever have to write! Me and my boyfriend have been going out to eat at Taj Mahal about once a month for about a year or so now. This is because we really like the food here. But today was different, just it’s not about the food. When we came in today, we wanted to sit there and eat as we usually do, but we changed our minds and asked the waiter if we could go for some take away instead. Mind you we had still not ordered yet.  So, we go to the front desk to order our takeaway, and I see that she had charged us the same amount as it would cost to sit there and eat. We had checked Taj Mahal’s website, Wolt and Fodora, and most of the meals costs about 50 nok less if you buy them takeaway. So that is why I was surprised when we were charged the same amount as when you eat at the restaurant. Once we got our food I confronted her, but she insisted that they had changed the price, and if that was the case I would have been fine with paying that amount. What I don’t like is that if they had changed the price why does it not say that anywhere. Not in their menu, not in Wolt and not in Fodora. Once I said this, she told me I had to order form either Wolt or Fodora to get the cheaper meals, which I thought was weird. Why would I get the same food for less money by ordering through a third party that takes a bit of the money earned for themselves, giving even less money to the restaurant? And there was even an option to order through their own website by calling their number, the same website with the same pricing as Wolt and Fodora. And if this was an option, why was it different to order through a phone call than ordering at their desk front? I don’t think you can suddenly change the price without saying so when you have not even changed the price in your own menu. And even if they would have changed the price for takeaway, why was the price for eating there still the same? Is in not normal that the takeaway price is at least a bit cheaper than the price you pay when eating at the restaurant? From my point of view, it just seems like they saw us looking through the dine in menu and thought they could be sneaky and charge us the price on that menu, without realizing that we had already seen the takeaway menu and knew what the cheaper prices where.  I am just very disappointed. This was a place where I liked to take my boyfriend and have a nice date, but now after this I don’t think I want to return. This is sad for us as well because we really liked the food. Why would you try to steal money from your guest, and when confronted just blatantly lie about it. Because in my eyes you can’t just up the price without informing your guests. That seems reasonable, doesn’t it? They got an extra 100 nok from our purchase, but now they have just lost two costumers!

Good food and good ambience too. When in Bergen if you long for Indian food then this place can satisfy your hunger. The staff was very polite and even agreed to make a custom dish on request. Would definitely recommend this place. The place is centrally located and has a variety of Indian food, they have vegetarian options as well. If you are on budget then they have variety of combos which you can try. Overall a good place to have your meals in Bergen.

We didn’t liked the food much here the taste was bland may be because they have their own variation of the dish. The food was obviously not authentic at all but they are trying their best. Ordered Dal Tadka which should use Tur Dal Lentils but they are using Chana Dal lentils that means they have changed the dish completely. Same applies for Aloo chat.

To start with Ambience was v good, we happily arrived to this place as my daughter was sick and wanted to have soup from Indian restaurant. Me and my husband were full and did not want to eat so we ordered tomato soup. The guy tells me I cannot order for only 1 person and as a rule I should order 3 dishes to accompany my daughter. So we told him we will take coffee he refused to serve us coffee. So arrogant I had to give medicine to my daughter so I really wanted her to eat and I did not reply to his arrogance . Hence we left the place so that she occupies one table of 2 to drink soup. I am wondering really Norway has such rules which I did not experience anywhere in whole Norway or world where I have traveled except this place. And although the soup was not at all good .

I would never recommend this place with such rude people around. No humanity shown and I am sure this is not the right way to do...

We were there in Bergen looking for Indian restaurants around found this place close to the hotel. The pathetic and worst Indian food anyone could ever think of having ever and paying around 3000 rupees for a gravy which isn’t sufficient even for one person. All gravies taste the same and are just coloured and pathetic. Worst ambience and they are cheats cheating tourists Over here and I am sure no one is coming back and wasting their money and spoiling their day having their food.... Will never think no of even going there and having the food not will recommend anyone to go there...

By writing reviews from known people on google it never helps.... Do not serve such pathetic food and spoil your name and spoil the rich culture... Both the other tables who were there that day dining were also very unhappy and as Maharaja was packed and we had no options unfortunately it was...
