We had a wonderful, and highly recommended walk from the cable car along the cobblestone streets of Bryggen of Old Bergen until we reached Saint Mary’s church. The whole area is full of old houses and alleyways. We were a bit lucky to be told this by a local and we eventually found the church which is also known as Mariakirken. It is the oldest remaining building in Bergen, constructed between the 1130s and 1180s in a Romanesque and Gothic style.
