we are expats who are here on assignment in the makati area. Rockwell is like a little calm haven from the traffic and disaster that is makati in general. good for kids, and lots of local kids around. all the towers have pools and most have playgrounds. its pretty calm on the streets, its clean, no jeepneys, very few mosquitos or bugs. you can tell they are trying to keep it nice and "elite" that has its pros and cons. it's not perfect. it's shockingly expensive. it's more expensive at the rustants than in any grocery in the usa. rent for the units are also very very expensive. electricity is about 4x the price as it is back in the usa (around 20,000 pesos a month for a 3 bed unit that has one Aircon running during the day at 24c, and 2 others running at night. The mall is all designer brands, so you will never find a deal here, although lots of places to eat. it's pretty difficult to get in and out of. You either have to pass through the packed and slimy red light district or take the ever gridlocked edsa. my commute is often 45 minuites by taxi to my office 2.5km away. we looked at 50 or so places in makati and bgc before settling here. we've had many problems with our Aircon unit and lots of construction noise. But those are likely isolated to our tower amd unit (one Rockwell west) overall, as an expat that works in makati and has kids, this is about as good as it gets. there are nicer, more western standard areas in BGC, but I would be forced to contend with hours of commute time daily. do yourself a favor and if you are here in makati as an expat. put Rockwell on your list...
Read moreRockwell Center was filled with huge business buildings and the main attraction there was the mall, the Power Plant, which held a lot of high end stores mostly catering to people who are more well off. It was beautiful inside, but sadly I doesn't have a baggage counter which was quite a problem for me when I got there because I had to carry a huge bag since I just got from the airport and I wanted to explore the area first before heading to my hotel which was in Quezon city. I wouldn't recommend the area for people who don't have a big budget since the place isn't gonna be friendly on your wallet, but if you do then it's a good...
Read moreI traveled hundreds of miles to see the Rockwell center lit up in all of their lights and booked a hotel across the street just to see this. I was so disappointed when their lights weren't on the first night. I called every phone number I could find online to ask them to turn them on or see if there is some type of schedule but no one had any answers. The second night was the same :( Came back a few weeks later and still no lights. I blew hundreds of dollars to see something that never happened. So bummed.
Dont come here with hopes of seeing it lit up like the photos online because odds are you...
