The restaurant is in an excellent location, right next to the Teutonic castle ruins, it is in a lovely building and has a running canal right under it. Interiors are very cosy, though the lights could be easily turned down by half at least, it would be way more ambient, especially with the beautiful Christmas decorations they have there, not to mention save on electricity. There was at least 4 staff on the floor, and not so many customers, maybe only 3 tables at any given time, yet service, though friendly enough, was not very attentive. Plates were not cleared for a long time, so much so that the waiter had to remove my starter plate some 15-20 minutes after I finished it so he could put down my main plate in its place! Noone inquired about the food, offered another drink or shown that much interest in the customers that were there. Staff disappeared into the kitchen or side room and didn't really come out that much. The beetroot broth starter was very good, the main of the duck disappointing. Meat wasn't rested properly, so it bled all over the plate within minutes (see photos), duck was on the overdone side, definitely less the promised pink, more well done, only slightly pink in the middle, end bits so well done and too chewy, not nice to eat. Orange sauce with the duck was very good, and crumb over potatoes - a nice touch, lovely presentation, just such a shame about the meat. Try the Polish red they recommend if you are going by the glass, I can't recall the name, as despite numerous promises to do so, the staff failed to write it down in the end. Though they offered to take my coat, and did, they failed to bring it when I asked for it after paying, I had to go look for it, they hanged it, as it happened, in another hall of the restaurant. Guess that's what I mean by lack of attention, these little things, especially when restaurant is practically empty with max 12 people in it, and 4 waiters. Overall, good but not outstanding by any means, at least not tonight. It was a Saturday night, weekend before Christmas, perhaps usual chef wasn't in. I was expecting more from the food, judging from food photos posted by other diners. Perhaps it was just...

While the food at 4 Pory Roku was genuinely well-prepared and flavorful, the service was some of the worst I’ve encountered in all my travels around the world—and that’s saying something.
From the moment we sat down, our waitress seemed distracted and inattentive. She could barely focus on taking our orders, doing so one drink at a time as if she couldn’t manage more than a single task. Still, we gave her the benefit of the doubt—until the end of the meal.
What happened next was outright unacceptable: we were charged more than double the actual bill. She had added items we never ordered. When we confronted her, instead of apologizing or owning up to the mistake, she was evasive, defensive, and rude. It took a lengthy and uncomfortable argument to get a refund. Even then, there was no apology—just attitude.
When we asked to speak to a manager, she smugly told us there was no manager on duty at night and to come back in the morning. Clearly, she’s banking on the assumption that hotel guests won’t notice or won’t fight back.
This behavior is unacceptable in any establishment—let alone one in a hotel of this caliber. That waitress should not be employed in hospitality. Her conduct was disgraceful.
We will not return, and we will be warning others to steer clear of this restaurant. Travelers, be alert—check your bill closely and prepare for a fight if...
Read moreI wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone.
The most decent thing they served us was water.
The atmosphere is quite casual, like a milk bar.
The seats we were recommended directly faced the kitchen, which was a rather odd suggestion. The other choice we’ve had was a table right next to another couple (they were the only other customers).
The wine we were served was just leftovers from open bottles, i.e. we were served old wine. We didn’t get to see what wine we were drinking either. The Pinot Noir we ordered was particularly bad.
The tartar was very chunky and had little flavor, while being quite oily. It made me nauseous.
We mentioned that the tartar wasn’t too good and the (quite polite otherwise) waitress said she likes it and asked us whether we even eat tartar. I’m not sure if that’s a good thing to ask a customer, but I doubt I’ll ever gain appreciation for chunky raw meat. For the record - “woda ognista” in Warsaw has a very good tartar and it’s not even a restaurant.
We ordered beef and duck. The steak was supposed to be medium rare but they served rare. Very bloody.
None of the food was good, or even “okay”.
By the way - there was no space to put our bags.
We paid 310 zł. I think this quality of food or service doesn’t deserve...
