We had a great, almost private experience at this beautiful place. The staff were friendly and welcoming and, as English speakers were able to help us through the visit. From the man on reception to the guide who showed us around everything was handled professionally. The introduction to the collection and the history of the museum was clear and succinct with the guide available at all times to answer any and all questions we had along the way. I can easily understand why it needs to be an accompanied visit - the place is full of delicate and precious items and having observed the lack of respect of tourists in other places of arts/culture I would be reluctant to leave this beautiful collection to the good sense of visitors. If you have an interest in the decorative arts and from an historic perspective then this museum is well worth the 10€ entrance. Don’t be afraid to ask for information - the staff are knowledgeable and very willing to share that with you.

Nice little Museum of Portoguise Art and Furniture. It has to be said that this was build out of a private collection- so it is not exactly build up like a museum - more like what the former collector liked. Entrance is 4,-€ and a20% discount if you have a Lisabon Card. The collection has some nice pieces of furniture and art and it is shown in a nice old house. A complete tour might take you 45 minutes. Why only 4 stars - somehow a clear storyline between the rooms is missing and not all exhibits have a sign explaining the age or the origin - if they have the text is. Wry helpful. If you are interested in 1600 - 1800 furniture and art this is a place to visit. See also my photos.

This was a wonderful experience. We first saw the furniture collection which was pretty interesting. We then were invited to go next door to a workshop that blew my mind :) I highly recommend the experience. A unique workshop done with a passion for the craft.

This is a magical and unique museum housed in a former palace. You have to book on a guided tour that lasts an hour but it is worth it as the guides are very well informed and friendly. The museum houses a private collection of furniture and tapestries from the 17th-19th centuries. Each piece has been lovingly restored on site using traditional techniques. The various rooms showcase a different era and style of decoration. The gift shop is filled with beautiful, handmade treasures. Make this part of your...
