This pastry shop is a gem in the area, but there's no need to go out of your way to come here. It's got lots of options and the pastries are ok, but there's nothing outstanding you have to come especially for. They offer good value though and it's always great to support a local business.
We tried their pastel de nata, a bolo arroz, their own creation the pastel de Alfama (which the lady recommended). The pastéis de nata was ok, but not our number one. Our favourite thing was actually the bolo arroz even though it's quite a simple light cake. Their banana bread is quite popular apparently.
Other than pastries there are savoury options too.
They do fresh orange juice.
The owner is nice and speaks multiple languages. She doubled up as the server in the little room to the side where we sat. It wasn't very busy at around 5.15pm on a Thursday in early September.
We paid in cash.

Read moreDelicious pastries and kind and friendly service. If you're in a rush keep in mind that you won't be in and out fast, but that's actually one of the charms of this place, what a friendly and talkative woman you'll find behind the counter. Focused more on engaging with the clients and giving a delightful experience than simply serving out an order. Unfortunately I went in a big rush with some friends and tried to order our things in a way that I thought would save time and only made things more confusing, ruining what would have otherwise been a wonderful experience had I just shown the patience and kindness that this person showed us and deserves her self. So don't make the mistake I did and you'll surely enjoy the visit as much as you will her...
Read moreLisbon is full of little places for coffee, pastries, etc. but this one is full of positive mood and awesome pastry.
Staff was cheerful to help us with our pickings. There is both sweet and savoury pastry, but not that much of a plain bread or something similar (at least at our visit).
You can also have a tea or a coffee.
There is also a possibility to eat your delights instore. You need to be careful that a little whiff wont take your pastry away because is light as a cloud 🙂 and simply fantastic.
Cash payment is needed. But even in the morning hours they got change from 50eur cash.
Both guys got fluent english and at least one of them also...
