Disappointed.

We registered for a tour a month in advance to secure our spot and diligently filled out the two oddly different booking forms on the National Bank of Romania Museum website. We received two confirmation emails (see photos attached), confirming that our forms had been successfully submitted. However, we received no further communication from the museum staff. Meanwhile, visiting slots on the museum's website continued to fill up until it eventually displayed the message: "The NBR Museum is fully booked between 16 December 2024 - 8 January 2025."

On the day of our scheduled visit—a freezing December day—we arrived, only to wait half an hour in vain. The museum provided no way to contact its staff, except for a phone number that no one answered. Frustrated, I circled the museum building and, at the Bank's Information Desk, a kind staff member helped me use the internal extension phone. When I finally reached the museum staff, I was told that no booking had been made. Furthermore, I learned that the museum was closed from 23 December to 8 January. They had no explanation for why my booking forms went through, nor why I had not been informed. All I received was a simple "sorry."

I, too, am sorry—sorry to have placed my trust and hopes in the National Bank of...

It was a delight to my knowledge and to my thought process.

The entrance to the museum is free, the booking was made online with a week in advance, by a friend. They need your full name and your personal identification number for registration. We went in a group, having a guide.

The guide presented us some particular moments from history which stuck to my mind, mostly because they were funny or just rang like a new idea:

the building was projected by two French architects, in such a way that the employee from the counter could hear you when you talked to him/her when depositing/withdrawing some money, but the others staying in line after you couldn't hear anything that you're saying.

Alexandru Ioan Cuza, to celebrate the union of the Romanian Principalities (Moldavia and Wallachia), wanted to issue the first Romanian coin, called "român" ("Romanian"). It was a bad idea. One of the Romanian Academy founders told that: how can I go to the market and pay 100 "Romanians" for an ox?

there I saw the first hologram. It was showing Queen Mary's crown.

they have coins which are from the IV-III centuries before Christ.

you can lift a 13 kilos gold bar with one hand. I mean you can try. I failed. But just to feel the...
