Two days ago, I dined with a friend in Bucharest at a Sarya restaurant old town We both have extensive knowledge of Turkish hospitality and cuisine, and make it a priority to indulge in Turkish fare when traveling around the world due to our deep passion for the culture. Additionally, I possess a basic understanding of the Turkish language. During our visit, we attempted to gain the attention of a certain staff member just for some extra Sugar (şeker ) for our tea (çay) whom we later learned was a manager, on multiple occasions, but were ignored until the fourth attempt. Despite our initial enthusiasm for the establishment, we ultimately decided to cancel our shisha order and leave due to this incident. I have traveled to over 40 countries throughout my life, yet have never experienced such blatant discrimination. Disrespect and ignores adding on top racism. It is unfortunate that this particular manager failed to uphold the standards of Turkish hospitality. While the food was enjoyable, the service was abysmal, and I have never encountered such a situation...
Read moreIt was nice to see Saray in Bucharest as Turkish visitors. But the experience was quite unsatisfying. First of all service was too slow. Even soup came too late and it was cold. In Turkey, soup is kept in a pot and boils all day. So it came fast and hot. The menu was far different than Turkey. It was basicly a kebab and grill place which does not match with Saray at all. There wasn't any of the signature deserts of Saray either. To be honest, portians were really big but taste wasn't that good. For example İskender kebab was too much spicy. Even the tomato souce was spicy. And there was no indication in the menu that it would be spicy. There wasn't hot butter service which is the signature finish of İskender, on top of it. The pictures on the table tops were very dissapointing. There was an Ottoman vibe which is far away from Saray's identity and style. To summarize, even the prices are a bit expensive, portions are big, so you will get a value. That's why I didn't lower to one star. But don't expect the quality that you can find in original Saray,...
Read moreSo we’ve been here with my wife and her sister, coming from Chisinau MD, cause we thought the atmosphere was nice. In the end we ordered some food priced in a stupid way ( a salad which should’ve been 500g but wasn’t anywhere near that amount ) is more expensive than a humus with meat. From 3 persons being there, so it means 3 forks and knives they brought us, all of them were dirty and withh food residuals ! When i showed the waiter this , the only thing he said was “ it might be from the dishwasher “ not at least a freaking apologise , cause nobody asked for free food. Except this, the person who is either the owner or the admin of the place waited for the moment when i went to the bathroom and went to the ladies to ask how they doin, why they sad and some other irritating questions ! So why this such educated person didn’t ask when i was there ?! My recommendation is to avoid this place ! Bad food , dirty plates and staff making u feel uncomfortable ! However the prices per general and the...
