Aubergine — Restaurant in Bucharest

UPDATE: Arrogant staff. I went here again with my husband and after the waitress took our order (she didn't write anything and didn't repeat again what we wanted which we did find odd) she came with a different plate for my husband leaving very rapidly (I underline the fact that she didn't check again if everything was alright). My husband went after her and told her she made a mistake. She came back to our table very nervous and defiant and said that she is "willing" to change his plate even though she didn't make any mistake, because I quote: "She is not that crazy to bring something else" although we were very calm. It was an unpleasant surprise this attitude. She didn't even apologize for the lost time to bring the right plate (another 20 min of waiting). I think that a restaurant with this range of prices should have service accordingly. Disappointment. Try to avoid.

This is a place that is very popular, especially for foreign people. It is recommended to call in advance and reserve a table because here very often the restaurant is full. The food is very delicious. They serve plates for meat lovers, but also for vegan and vegetarians. The also have lemonades and freshly squeezed juices, coffees and wine. This restaurant was one of my co-workers' choices for a team dinner. In the beginning I was a bit doubtful given the location and my previous experiences with the meals I've had in the old city center and the first impression wasn't very encouraging either but the menu looked promising. I ordered a medium-done beef steak with pepper sauce and it was like a culinary dream came true. That dish was delicious. It was one of the best things I've ever had. The perfect combination between sweet and just a bit of pepper flavour and the right amount of salt. It was like every bite was warming your heart while melting your senses. I couldn't resist the urge to invite everyone to try a small bite and it was immediately classified as the best choice of the evening. I also tried the ram (?) steak but it was a bit dull and needed more salt. The coconut lemonade was a very interesting choice but they could have added a bit more coconut flavour in it. The chairs are very uncomfortable. I strongly recommend the couch and the dry wine was so-so but I'm not much of a wine drinker so I wouldn't take this aspect into account.
