This writer experienced prejudice while shopping to buy souvenirs for my family back in New York City in the African trading port establishment Wednesday , September 21, 2016, at approximately 9:15 am hours while on vacation.
Upon entering this establishment I greeted what appeared to be an older African man by saying good morning. Said male hesitantly looked up in my direction to even acknowledge me as I asked him a question in regards to the prices of what appeared to be various African mask. While observing the mask to select one for purchase I noticed what appeared to be an Indian man standing at the top of a stair case. After viewing the mask I decided to explore the establishment for potential additional gifts for my family, as the fact being all of my family members did not want a mask from Africa, and this gift would have been suitable for one of the members of my family, different objects other than this I knew were more desired by alternative members in my family. During the time of my searching for a gift, I turned around and noticed that the Indian male I had seen earlier at the top of the stairs appeared to be following me and watching me in the store. When I observed him doing this he did not ask me if I needed help or if I had any questions about any of the merchandise. He simply stared at me with an emotionless face as if he were monitoring my movements in the store. Offended, I decided to leave this establishment and I did such without incident. I have not traveled 7,803 miles, a 19hr + flight from New York City to Cape Town South Africa to be subject to prejudice while on vacation. I experience this enough in New York City. We are in the year 2016 and it is unfortunate some people still prescribe to the ignorance of the past. I refuse to support empty-headedness, which in my humble opinion was the behavior displayed by this...

I bought quite a number of things here, it is spacious with a huge range of souvenirs. The sales lady at the ostrich egg counter was very friendly and helpful, except when she told me that testing of lamp, cleaning and packing request would be done at the cashier instead, that is where the nightmare began.
The lady at the cashier was extremely rude when I told her my requests; she asked for payment right away, I repeated saying that I wish to test the product first, she rolled her eyes and said “waiting for your payment”. So I brought out my card, she went straight to attend to other customers, I then held back payment and the other guy doing the packing asked me to pay again. They were right beside each other so it was obvious that I couldn’t make any payment then, so I am made to be stuck in between, pay now or pay later? I asked both of them, one asked me to pay and the cashier ignored me. They tried to shame me and this was extremely disrespectful.
The sales lady(refer to name on my image) at the ostrich egg told me to write to the management, here it is. The cashier should be ashamed of...
Read moreRude, unhelpful. We where looking for large-scale art for our house and entered the shop to explore. I am from Uk, London and my partner from Zimbabwe. We where joined by my partners brother and sister. On entering the shop one of the ladies immediately asked my partners brother “can I help you sir” in the tone shop assistants reserve for customers they feel should not be in their shop. The other shop assistant quickly muttered to her “don’t worry, he is with them”!! Very embarrassing. My partner also asked about hats, they unhelpfully told her to look next door. We could’t fine her size and as we walked out, the two shop assistants continued their conversation without any enquiry whether we had found what we were looking for. No doubts it’s not their shop as they have no real interest in...
