Ocular Lounge and Event space — Local services in V&A Waterfront

If there was on option to give one star i would.

We have tried to have a pleasant wedding experience with our venue (WHICH IT SHOULD BE) taking place in August.

So far we have dealt with three different 'head of events' (they all seem to leave so there must be an internal issue or some form of toxicity).

Over the months we have been promised and been sold things under false pretences. Literally against the consumer protection act. The place where we are having (BMW ATRIAM) the Chuppah all of a sudden has a giant exhibition on top that is suppose to look like the african continents but resembles something I could have done at home with dustbin bags.

Even more so our guest will not be able to see properly. We were promised before that this would not happen or any exhibitions would be removed at the time of being sold (by the venue) this area for our chuppah (which is very expensive and an massive additional cost).

Now all of a sudden there is a hideous drapped plastic bag somehow resembling continents. We also cant do the hora's (dancing) in the courtyard top area (probably the nicest place outside anymore because all of a sudden the floor is unstable which we were told we could before)

Furthermore we can't marquee the outside part of this said area. We are now on the third 'event' coordinated since we started dealing with them. We have been offered ZERO compensation and/or effort to try rectify anything. This venue is so expensive and has extremely rigid rules; yet they are unable to do anything to accommodate you.

I would run 1000 miles before even considering having a wedding here and too be honest if we had enough time to go elsewhere we would. All our guests are becoming aware of this which is not great publicity for the venue but (and I never right these reviews) they generally make it like you are doing them a favour to have your wedding there, charge exorbitant feels, have rigid rubbish rules about everything - but they cant facilitate or shift anything towards their customers.

This venue should NOT be sold as a place to have functions due to conflicting agendas between them and the museum itself and there inability to afford any form of compensation, empathy or assistance which has left a bitter taste in out months.

I am sure our wedding will be very nice but BE VERY CAREFUL AND DONT HAVE YOUR WEDDING THERE.

If anything changes I will happily delete this post but nobody has even made an attempt to check in that we are happy and we have been booked for a year.

Let's start this off with some positivity before moving onto issues.

The view is gorgeous I mean you walk through a modern art museum to get there so I'd hope so and the price isn't that bad, minorly expensive but you didn't come to eat a restaurant on top a museum for cheap.

Now onto my issues, firstly the menu is dismal I understand having a small menu but then have a very set amount of things that tie in together like finger foods

Secondly the menu was flat wrong, we were charged extra because the menu was wrong and they didn't do the prices correctly. This was 1 item we ordered out of 2 items. How many others are wrong?

And the worst part is they had the audacity to still charge us more when the menu clearly states it costs less. I wanted to argue but my friend wanted to leave so we left instead.

Thirdly they didn't have the one menu item we wanted either which is ice cream on a hot day and a public holiday and you failed to do that? Now in defense the taxi strike has been ongoing but it's been on for a week and you haven't gotten stock in this there since and planned for additional stock needed

It's a lot of small issues but a place like this shouldn't have...

This was one of the most pleasant places I have been and it is worth every penny. The service was amazing and the entire place it beautiful and super clean. The bathroom made my jaw drop, because it took my breath away. The food were amazing and the mocktails are to die for. Everyone is very friendly and kind and I will go back again for sure!
