We have tried this restaurant twice in the last week to give it a fair shot as we did not have a good experience the first time after waiting 35 minutes for our first round of cocktails. We came back to give them a second shot and unfortunately, our experience the first time proved to be the norm.
This time, the first thing we asked our server was to explain the specials that were listed on the board as we walked in. We then proceeded to order two spicy margaritas from that list and 15 minutes later, way too long to wait for cocktails, a drink that resembled a margarita but different than what we ordered arrived. Note that there is a picture of these drinks on the tent card on the table that we pointed at when ordering the drink. We brought this information to the attention of the server from whom we ordered, who quickly went back to the bar to arrange the spicy margaritas as ordered.
About 15 minutes later, a new round of drinks arrived, also looking nothing like what we ordered, and most importantly, without any flavor and an extreme amount of chili. The drink illustrated on the tent card as a special was not what was brought to the table. We brought this up with the manager, who took the drinks away and arranged a new round of cocktails for us, something completely different as providing the spicy margarita that is on their tent card doesn’t seem to be in the wheelhouse at the bartender today.
Most importantly, however, we had come to the restaurant to try their lunchtime sushi special. Without fail, every item was bland and without any seasoning. The sushi rice had no salt, sugar or rice vinegar, as is necessary acidity with sushi rice to balance the flavor of the fish and the other flavors. Instead what we received was a bland cardboard like that we couldn’t even finish because it was just so terrible. The two non-sushi dishes we ordered followed suit again without any salt or seasoning as if they have a chef in the kitchen who is unfamiliar with what salt and pepper is and most certainly has never tasted any of the dishes that are leaving the kitchen because they are bland and unbalanced at best. I’m looking at you fishy ceviche and the tian of prawns, yuck.
The owner of this restaurant desperately needs to get involved with the food service program, and ensure that every item on this menu is properly seasoned and balanced because most of the food coming out of the kitchen with a few exceptions that were truly delicious, are flat, bland and not very good.
We gave you two shots Sevruga and for different reasons each time you’ve left us disappointed in our experiences.

Read more….It’s been almost 4 years since we last visited here so when we saw that Hyperli was offering an Exclusive 3 course dining experience we jumped at the offer because it was at a good price the voucher was under R 400 and the voucher value was just on R 600. This superb-lii located restaurant is a gem offering seating on the Terrace which is right on the walk-way of Quay-5, where all the boat-rides are on offer and you have an awesome view of all the yachts moored right here and all the harbour activities can be observed while you are enjoying the quality delicious foods that they serve here. Inside seating in a massive beautiful-lii laid-out area is also available. We started off by ordering a glass of Durbanville Hills “Merlot” @ R 66.00 per glass. The Exclusive 3 course menu has 5 Starters to choose from such as Sushi, Baby-Calamari, Black-Mussels, Beef Carpaccio & a Parmesan-Avo Salad: - We went for the 1. 6 piece Sushi & 2. The Beef-Carpaccio, both was indeed killer choices as it was fresh-lii made and delicious. The 2nd course Main-menu has 6 choices such as: - Flame-grilled Sirloin/Rump, Sea-food Linguini, Fresh Line-Fish, Full-Portion of Baby-Calamari-Tubes, Main-Sushi Platter x 12 pieces, Parmesan Gnocchi: - We ordered 1. Flamed-Grilled Sirloin (Truffle Bearnaise & Hand-cut Chips) 2. Sea-food Linguini (Black-mussels, Prawns, Grilled-Calamari & Line-fish served in a cream-ii parmesan, garlic & thyme-sauce)…The steak was tender, juicy and delicious-lii done as ordered. The Linguini was soft but not mosh-ii, the sea-food meats was sufficient for the size of dish and the cream-ii garlic-sauce had an intriguing lemon-ii after-taste. The 3rd course Dessert menu has 3 offers: - Cream-Brulee, Dark-Choc Tart & Trio of Ice Cream: - Our choice was: - 1. Chocolate Tart & Ice Cream, 2. Trio of Ice Cream. The Choc-tart was insidious-lii “lekka” and the three balls of ice cream had prominent taste-ii flavours, vanilla, dark-chocolate & good strawberry. We thoroughly enjoyed it here the terrace was full but there was enough space for social-distancing. Their Covid-19 protocols are in place, hand-sprayer inside on the wall as you enter. A very big long sit-down counter bar area. Our waiter “Mabasa” was okay’ ish a bit slow and came across as frazzled (maybe he was new on the job?) as his area of responsibility was quite full. They also have guest Wi-Fi available you just have to ask for the “Key/Password” We recommend this...

Solo night out with live music and fine dining
Arrival & Atmosphere Sevruga is easy to find, nestled in the heart of Cape Town’s iconic V&A Waterfront. The vibe? perfect for solo travelers and American guests looking for a warm welcome. I came for the tribute band and stayed for the energy.
Rating: 4/5
🧑💼 Service Experience There was a brief snag with my ticket—apparently the reseller hadn’t updated my name in the system. I was initially seated at the bar with no view of the stage, which didn’t align with my reason for visiting. After a respectful conversation with the manager, I was re-seated properly and the night turned around. The staff handled it professionally, and I appreciated their willingness to course-correct.

Food & Beverage Ordered
• Mocktail — Refreshing and well-balanced • Oysters on the Half Shell — Fresh, briny, and beautifully plated • Gnocchi — Rich, pillowy, and layered with flavor • Sparkling Water — Crisp and palate-cleansing
Each dish built on the last. The oysters were a standout, and the gnocchi was amazing. Sevruga’s culinary team knows how to elevate the flavors.
