Was an amazing setting with the 7th WONDER as a backdrop. The staff were Absolutely awesome on our first first visit. We were served by An Enthusiastic and very Energetic gentleman(sorry forgot his name but he was the elder server that day.. Real pleasure to have him serve us. However in our second visit we were attended to by a very lackluster young lady who made No effort at all to answer our questions regarding the drinks we had previously, no smile, just bustling away like a freight train. We felt like we as locals were being brushed aside due to the foreigners that were also present. We had asked for a table in the outside when it would become available, but that too we were brushed aside and although we were there before two other couples we were denied the outside setting. We had to then again speak to the same server and bring it to her attention that we had been there way before the people that were shown tables not once but twice before us on the outside. We ordered the seafood platters that were on special. The order was timiously presented but the fact it was just slammed down in front of us, made us feel as if we were just being rushed to get thhe hell out of there as soon as possible.. The food however was delicious except for the prawns that were under cooked.. The drinks were really good. The barman was more pleasant than the server... My review is not a gripe as such but a message to all at Ginja that when the foreigners aren't around its us the locals and the people from the various provinces that are frequently visiting your establishment.... Treat us better and not for face value because we ARE THE PEOPLE OF...
Read moreShocking experience 🤮 Horrifying to think that this is the service level international visitors are subjected to when visiting South Africa, and sad that a restaurant with this approach is in such a high-traffic area.
The menu lists allergens, so one would expect to be able to rely on this information. Instead, gluten is not listed as an allergen in the lentil and artichoke bake I ordered, and even more stupendously, not for the fish board which has BATTERED OYSTERS.
Asking what the purpose is of having an incomplete list of allergens on the menu, I was told that it's meant to give a "general" sense of food allergens.
‼️I would recommend Executive Management to provide staff training on the meaning of a food allergy...ASAP 🙈
🆘☠️ And even more urgently, to update the menu to replace such a callous attitude towards customers' health and safety ☠️🆘
Waited 30 minutes after my food arrived - and having asked for the menu to double-check that I didn't miss the allergen - for our waiter to return to our table. Apparently this was because the "kitchen" was busy. Not sure how this related to the waitron not attending to us (despite visiting his other tables).
My coffee cup - which I'd ordered as soon as we sat down - was still there by the time we'd paid the bill two hours later.
Finally, the restaurant bathroom being situated inside a hotel room in the V&A Hotel it is attached to with a single stall that people need to queue up for, one would expect more care to be taken with replacing toilet paper rolls.
However, clearly this is the LAST of Management's priorities:
👉👉👉 Please fix your menu and stop compromising your customers'...
Read moreI recently enjoyed a fantastic meal at GINJA in the V&A Waterfront. The restaurant is modern and stylish, and has a lovely outdoor seating terrace to soak up the views and people watch. Unfortunately it was a little too cold for us to sit outside the evening we dined, but inside is just a wonderful.
There were two highlights for me during our dining experience at GINJA, and that was the incredible service and the absolutely sensational dessert! Our waitress was amazing, very friendly and attentive, and always had a smile on her face. It was some of the best service we had in South Africa during our two week visit.
The food we had throughout the evening was nothing short of sublime. Everything was very flavorsome, and my partner said that his Seared Tuna Fish starter was one of the best he’d ever tasted. The highlight of the meal was the dessert, we had the Chocolate Fondant which was a chocolate lovers dream. Cooked to perfection, it was warm, gooey and absolutely amazing.
If you’re looking for a delicious meal in Cape Town, then GINJA is a must visit. It’s stylish, great value considering the quality and location, and the staff were fantastic – just make sure you leave room...
