Life Grand Café believes in the soul of a place and the Mall of Africa eatery is warm and vibrant, comfortable but super chic with strong heritage characteristics to ground it.

Guests can expect fresh, delicious soul food at the theatre bars Life Grand is known for – the Salad Bar, Raw Bar (serving the freshest sushi and sashimi of seafood flown in daily – to the Barista Stations and Patisserie Counters. The drinks don’t disappoint with delectable, designer cocktails like the cucumber and apple mojitos though there’s also a healthy selection of fresh fruit juices and smoothies available at the Juice Bar.

FOOD COURT NORTH

Take in the first class of luxury cinema with Ster Kinekor Cine Prestige in the Food Court North. Visit the exclusive VIP Lounge area where both tickets and catering can be purchased. Then grab a quick bite from one of the 13 fast foods options - or enjoy an IMAX theatre experience - entertainment doesn't get better than this!

FOOD COURT SOUTH

For breakfast on the run, or a family lunch, Food Court South is your destination. Iconic fast food brand McDonald's and family restaurant favourite Spur are located here. Donut heaven, Krispy Kreme and Cinnabon also reside here for your sugar kicks

SQUARE

Dine under African skies, whether deep blue by day, or dark and starry, by eve. The finest of dining options is on offer in Town Square, so for your next fabulous lunch with the girls, a first date, or to celebrate that special occasion, book a table at your favourite spot and savour not only the taste but the wonderful experience of fine dining.

Through the beautifully design courts, out over Town Square and down into The Waterfall Park, the skies break out in song celebrating a new dawn. A new African story begins through Mall of Africa. Take the journey and experience the inspiration for yourself!

Woolworth Court

Whether it's home decor, food, clothing for the whole family, or the exclusive store-within-store Trenery, Country Road and Witchery sections, Woolworths is bound to be a regular destination for everyone visiting Mall of Africa. Oh and - the Woolworths Cafe with its fresh produce menu for breakfast, lunch and anytime in between.

Crystal Court

In the Crystal Court, the decor and architecture pays tribute to the incredible mineral wealth of our continent, specifically the exquisite and unique diamonds and crystals found in Southern Africa. Celebrate our continents many natural treasures – the glass chandelier is a sight for sore eyes. A must see while you browse the luxury fashion stores uniquely clustered together for absolute shopping bliss.

Edgars Court

As the biggest store at the Mall of Africa, the Edgars' super-regional store offers 14 000sqm of retail space for shoppers to enjoy. Whether it's cosmetics, accessories, fashion clothing for the family or designer brands such as Dune, Top Shop or Nike; get it all at Edgars.

I attended a corporate event upstairs, so not the normal visit to the restaurant... but the way management handled things is perhaps an indication of daily affairs.

Sad to say but while the waiters were friendly and attentive, some couldn't tell me the difference between some of the sushi being brought round on trays... a potentially serious problem when veg & seafood are on the same tray, and I have a seafood allergy.

We were later asked by waiters to hand in our parking cards for validation... which I did, and awaited the return of a validated card.

The evening started drawing to a close, and two of us went to the bar to see if there was a final glass of wine available... and we were told it's all finished. Upon returning to the table, another guest got up and went to the very same bar... and returned with two full glasses. Weird, but ok. Maybe they found an open bottle in the 30 seconds between telling me it's finished and him arriving.

Upon leaving, 2 of us still needed parking cards... but there was only 1. Ok, so the other guy takes it. The manageress told me she's out, and hope I had a good evening... then walks off. I have her called back, and she tells me the same thing and that there's nothing she can do. And walks off again. When trying to highlight that I handed in a card, but now because of their incompetence will have to pay for a "lost card", she didn't seem phased and said again that they don't have any more cards and there's nothing she can do.

I did raise my voice, but certainly didn't swear at her (like she later claimed to the host of the event). Only after telling her I shall spread the word about the incompetence and pathetic attitude did she offer to follow me to my car and pay the "lost card" amount. Too little too late, sorry.

I don't care about the R110... it's the principle of her making as though it's not their problem (despite them losing my card / handing it to someone else?) that annoyed the hell out of me. Hence the 1 star!

If that is how guests at a corporate event are treated and handled, then I wish them well with handling one-off guests during tourist season when things get busy...

One of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had.

Invoice 3145 | Waiter 171 – We were a table of 5. One dish was completely off, two pasta dishes were undercooked with little to no sauce, and the wrap was dry and tasteless.

The service was even more shocking. Moses and the other manager on duty were rude, arrogant, and completely dismissive. Instead of showing any accountability, they accused us of lying, saying our feedback was “false and misleading,” and even went as far as offering to pull their sales report to prove it. They made it seem like we were just trying to get a free meal — which couldn’t be further from the truth.

Fact is, no one at the table ate more than 30% of their food because it was genuinely that bad. The staff were grumpy from the start, and the overall experience was completely unacceptable.

Life Grand Café might have a nice location, but don’t be fooled — the food and service is poor, and the management is worse.

The drinks were good, go there for drinks and aesthetics then go elsewhere to eat. Don’t ask for a blanket either, you would be inconveniencing the staff so much it’ll most likely be thrown at you to get the...
