The garden area around the restaurant is a wonderful and magical space. Perfect for young kids. The restaurant was reasonable and the atmosphere in the garden was great. There were very few vegan options ( in fact only one). I had the vegan Buddha bowl. It was very nicely presented and tasty. I had a bowl of chips to go with the food. Like most mediocre restaurants they use pre-cut chips. They were ok, but only ok. Nowhere near the experience and taste of hand-cut chips which higher end restaurants offer. Unfortunately they only offer almond milk as a non-dairy milk option with coffee. ( I don't like almond milk with coffee, but prefer either rice milk or Oat milk with coffee). I therefore chose not to have coffee, but instead ordered a black rooibos tea with sliced lemon to go with the vegan apple crumble which I had for dessert. Three people in our party ordered the vegan apple crumble. One person said the dough was not properly cooked and was raw. She decided not to eat it or request a replacement. Another person also complained that his apple crumble dough was a bit raw, but he decided to eat it. I was lucky and I didn't feel that the dough in mine was raw. It was quite tasty and reasonably light and not overly sweet, which was great. There was a hiccup with the vegan apple crumbles. They were all brought to us with a blob of what looked like cream ( as well as a sliced fresh strawberry. I asked the waitress what the white stuff was and she said "cream". I thought perhaps I had misheard her. After all I had ordered a vegan apple crumble. I checked with her again and three times she repeated with confidence that it was cream. I had to send mine back as the cream was touching the apple crumble. The waitress brought me a new one, without the blob of cream. She was very friendly and apologetic about the raw apple crumble and the cream that was served on the plate with the vegan apple crumble. The only issue with the service was no one came around after our initial order was brought to the table. We had to seek out some assistance when we wanted the dessert. We were asked if we could pay the bill in cash rather than with a card ( if possible). Apparently this was due to the poor connectivity of the portable credit card machine. It turned out that one person paid about 1/3 of the bill in cash and the rest was paid with a card and there didn't seem to be an issue with the card payment going through. Regarding the raw apple crumbles, we were told that they are bought from a supplier, so we fully understood that there was no way for them to know they were under-cooked. Overall it was a largely positive and...
Read moreWorst restaurant ever. I don't know if they are racist or what but I would not wish this place on my worst enemy. We arrived at around 4pm and there was like 3 tables that were occupied by white people. My coloured fiance and i (black) sat down outside and waited for service but got none. He went inside and spoke to one of the staff (togolese female with blonde hair) and asked them if they could give us some service. He got 2 menus and waited at the table outside but nobody came for over 10 minutes. Bear in mind the lady was coming out to serve tve other white customers outside but they ignored our table. My fiance then went inside to tell them what we want to have (2 mocha iced coffees). A slightly older gentleman brought us the iced coffees and they were horrible. The thing wasn't properly blended and was difficult to drink through the straw because the iced chips kept blocking the straw. The mocha was undetectable and the iced coffee was so bitter that we had to add sweetener. My fiance then asked him for a slice of red velvet cheese cake which he brought. We ate it and then tried to get the waiters attention which we didn't get then eventually she responded to my fiance flagging her down to ask for the bill. She then walked away then told him over her shoulder without making eye contact that he should come pay inside. At this point i was irrate so i went inside and demanded to speak to the manager. I told him what happened and he was so indifferent and nonchalant. The waitress got involved and couldn't give me a reason regarding why we were the only ones not getting any service and being told to physically enter the restaurant to place our order and pay. This is horrifying behaviour especially from other people of colour. If you want to be dehumanised then i would recommend this place. They barely spoke to everyone kindly and friendly but they treated us like we...
