The Village Table is without a doubt one of the most breathtaking restaurant I've ever been to. The interior decor is insanely incredible, the staff is neat, the food tastes surreal, like that's how incredible it is, big ups to the Chèf/s who does not always get the much deserved appreciation. I was frustrated though on my first visit here by a certain waiter(who was awfully moody) and the service delivery of this place. Unfortunately for my sisters and I, a moody waiter was assigned to us. He left an awful impression and I was certain I would leave and never return there ever again because there's nothing I hate more than an rude waiter. It automatically makes me feel uncomfortable. I can bare with the food delay, but a moody waiter that hardly pays attention to a customer, I can never. But on a positive note as time went on, we asked for a change of waiters and we recieved a fantastic waiter and our day proceeded superbly. Aside from the cranky waiter and the slow service delivery, this place is pretty much 5star. That's why I recommended it to my sister to use as her babyshower venue. On the 30th of November we hosted my sisters baby shower there and everything was spectacular. From the waiter, to the phenomenal food, my goodness, I was truly suprised. It was as if someone read the previous review I had written(that's why i Re-Rate this place). The service delivery had improved and our food and beverages got there in time.I was truly impressed. Everything was splendid. We even over tipped the waiter because she truly deserved it for the wonderful service she provided us. I will definately be coming back here often, my birthday is fastly approaching.

Village table is definitely one my favourite restaurants in Umhlanga Rocks, it took me a while to take to it, however once I started exploring the menu I didn't stop. It's a usual breakfast spot for my partner and I. We've only ever had one terrible experience where we were in a rush and food was not served on time. However the manager ensured that we were happy customers before we left. The staff are always so welcoming and friendly as well. If you want to taste AUTHENTIC prawns then village table is the place to go. Although its my common breakfast favourite, it's now certainly my go to prawn restaurant. The prawns are meaty! And overall delicious. I always order both the Peri Peri sauce as well as the lemon and butter sauce just to balance it out. My drinks are always virgin and there's a variety of vegetarian meals on the menu. I highly recommend the omelette with tomatoes and cheddar cheese. My partner also loves the mince omelette and orders it on most visits If you get bad customer service, I do assure you that it would be made up for by the manager. The setting is cool, the ambience is fab and the food is value for money.

The Village Table offers a chic culinary experience. Nestled in the heart of Umhlanga’s vibrant social scene, The Village Table encompasses a refreshing blend of style, flavour, and atmosphere that makes it more than just a restaurant. It makes for a truly authentic dining experience. The menu is a celebration of global influences with a South African twist. The portions are generous, and well presented. The drinks menu is equally impressive with a great cocktail menu and delicious hot drinks too. They also have an affordable but creative and generous lunch time menu, suitable for vegetarians, pescetarians and meat lovers, of a three course meal plus a drink for those looking for a great luncheon experience on a budget. The decor is modern and eclectic with hanging lights, beautiful indoor plants and checkered floors that give the space a trendy yet welcoming vibe. The staff are friendly and attentive, and its refreshing to see how the team goes out of their way to accommodate guests. The atmosphere is lively but not overwhelming, making it perfect for everything from casual meetups to special occasions.

We were charged extra R50per person for being late yet the restaurant was not full. Waitron who was serving us was rude. She hardly checked our table .Yet R300+- was charged on our bill as her tip. Whilst we were eating starters , the rude waitron came with the main course so we were sitting with 2plates of food of which i though it was so unprofessional not sure if the mananger wanted us out of there .

Drink orders were taken in drips and draps we had to constantly call the manager to take our orders because our waitron would just walk pass us and attend other tables. We ordered tequila shots this waitron brought it without lemon . We had to ask her why there is no lemon and the response we got was that it finished. In few minutes a waitron walked passed by our table with a side plate full of lemon. When we queried we were told they dont know where she got it from. Next thing we were served small slices of an orange that looked as if it was stored in a fridge last year in 2018. After we have complain to the manager about this, a side plate with slices of lemon was brought to our table.

The beef steak that i ordered was really dry and some of the chips looked as if it was taken off other peoples left overs some were soft and others were crisp. Chicken livers were over cooked and the peri peri sauce cooked in it was a let down😞

We had to call the manager to query about the dessert that was not served. After a long wait it was served with melted ice cream😡

The venue it self is beautiful but the toilets next to it needs attention it was absolutely disgusting. It seemed that the cleaning team is not monitored. The party starter cocktail was very nice and it the only thing ill...

From the moment we entered the restaurant, we had a peculiar feeling. It was a birthday dinner with 14 people on 30/09/2020. Planned with Sue the Manager for a surprise birthday & was told the table will be a special setting. Pictures were sent in advance to Sue for the table on WhatsApp though when we arrived, nothing was done as promised, something as simple as seating's were even in the incorrect place. We carried the cake in when the waiter/chef took the cake, thereafter he suddenly tore the box & smashed the cake. We could also smell the alcohol on him. Thereafter waited for another waiter for about half an hour to 45 minutes. Finally the waiter came but was not sure about the Menu & spoke about full and half menu? We asked him what he was talking about though no answer was given. He seemed like he was also intoxicated. Finally we ordered starters and that came after 1 hour which was ice cold inside. By then we reached the height of frustration and realized the restaurant was going to make the birthday evening unbearable so we decided to leave immediately. I suppose this is the reason they ask for a deposit which we paid R1,300 for. The experience was disappointing. Tried contacting Sue since our bad experience but she is not taking our calls. Even no response on WhatsApp hence airing our view on this platform so no other person shall encounter the same.

The feature to respond with our details does not appear on Reviews? Sue the Manager has our contact details for the birthday dinner that was planned on 30/09/2020. Alternately, please provide us with your details to discuss further? Await...
