Where do I begin...from the moment we arrived at The Oyster Box Hotel, we knew we were in for something truly special... the smell of 'Lemon Grass' was in the air...wow! The experience was nothing short of extraordinary, exceeding every expectation.

The staff at The Oyster Box went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. From the warm and welcoming greeting at the reception to the personalized touches throughout our visit, every member of the team displayed a genuine commitment to excellence. Their attention to detail and willingness to accommodate our every need made us feel like VIPs throughout our stay.

Our room was a perfect blend of luxury and comfort, offering stunning views of the Indian Ocean. The decor was elegant, with every amenity thoughtfully provided. The plush bedding ensured restful nights, while the spacious layout allowed us to relax in style. We especially appreciated the little touches, and the nightly turn-down service, which added to the overall sense of indulgence.

The dining experience at The Oyster Box was simply outstanding. Each meal was a culinary delight, whether we were enjoying a sumptuous breakfast with a view of the ocean or savoring an exquisite dinner at the renowned Grill Room.

The variety and quality of the food were unparalleled, and the service was impeccable. Special mention must be made of the 'High Tea – a feast for the senses with its selection of delicate pastries and fine teas.

The hotel’s facilities were world-class. We spent hours relaxing by the pool, where the tranquil ambiance and attentive service made it easy to unwind. The spa even though we never used it, is a sanctuary of calm where one could completely recharge, a must for next time!

The hotel’s location, right on the beachfront, allowed for easy access to the beautiful Umhlanga Rocks, and on your return to be welcomed with a fresh hand towel to wipe your hands...adding to the overall charm of our stay.

The Oyster Box Hotel is more than just a place to stay; it’s an experience in itself - the combination of stunning surroundings, top-tier service, and luxurious accommodations made our visit truly memorable.

The Oyster Box for us, is the perfect choice. We can’t wait to return and relive this...

My family and I have been loyal visitors of the Oyster Box for the past six to seven years, and I can honestly say that every single experience has been exceptional. You have never once disappointed us.

Last night, I had booked and paid for the Chai Tea event, but the atmosphere was so amazing that we decided to enjoy supper instead. The food was absolutely outstanding, and the overall experience exceeded our expectations.

A special mention must go to Scott, the manager on duty, who was incredibly accommodating, prompt, and attentive. He made us feel so comfortable and handled everything with such professionalism. He quickly arranged to credit the Chai Tea booking, and we simply paid the difference for our supper. The process was effortless from start to finish from making the reservation to the communication with the staff and the service on the night. Scott truly deserves a 10 out of 10 for his warmth, professionalism, and attention to detail.

I would also like to extend my sincere thanks to Wendy for accommodating my reservation request. I initially booked for 5 guests , with the special consideration that my mom and aunt are diabetic. It was so thoughtful and appreciated that the high tea was adjusted to cater for both diabetic and non-diabetic guests, making the celebration even more special.

Lastly, a word of appreciation for our server, Brandon i can be corrected, who looked after us during the evening.

Please pass along my gratitude to Scott, Wendy, and Brandon for making our visit truly memorable. The Oyster Box will always have us as returning guests, and I look forward to many more special experiences with you...

Having been to the Oyster Box many times of the last few years, I can safely say just how badly it’s fallen. Horrendous drop in service and so much cost cutting. And guess what, when I complained on social media. They had the nerve to block me for raising valid points! If you are going to block me, then I demand a full refund for every single visit! It’s clearly that I hit a nerve and they simply can’t handle valid criticism. It just further proves my point on how badly things have fallen at the Oyster Box! I want the social media manager fired immediately! They are extremely biased. They are more interested in pandering to rotten ā€œinfluencersā€ instead of paying customers! Either repost content from everyone or no one at all! Not giving priority to problematic people like the De Wolf twins! All customers need to be treated the same. Also, food prices are ridiculous. More worrying is how the portion sizes and quality have decreased significantly over the years! You can’t charge premium prices for mediocre food. Some of the baked goods taste stale and dry. Totally unacceptable given the fact you can get significantly better baked goods at the Spar within walking distance from the hotel, for a fraction of the price! Service levels have dropped tremendously. Staff are more interested in standing around and gossiping in Zulu. General manager clearly can’t be bothered either. She was supposed to call me last week to discuss the atrocious treatment of myself by the biased social media manager and I’m still waiting for the call. Absolutely disgraceful! This used to be such a good place in the past and now it’s totally lost any...

I cannot comment on the rooms but I’m sure they would be luxurious. Over a week I was in Umhlanga (I ran Comrades) I visited the restaurant on three occasions. First was to have scones and hot chocolate the afternoon before the Marathon. Such a beautiful luxurious setting and atmosphere with very gentle and friendly staff. The second visit was with our ā€˜Africa Marathons’ team and it was a post Comrades celebratory get together. We were treated to the top deck for drinks as we all debriefed our experiences. The lower and top deck areas overlook a beautiful pool, the lighthouse and Ocean. After a 5 day safari my friend and I returned to Uhmlanga and on our last night we treated ourselves to the famous Oyster Box Curry buffet. We were greeted by two delightful ladies who welcomed us and took us to our table where ā€˜congratulations’ balloon šŸŽˆ was hung. They knew we had completed Comrades and were very excited for us. The Curry Buffet was all we had been told it would be. Simply amazing with so many choices of curries and condiments. A very special treat was to receive a ā€˜farewell’ platter of delicious sweet treats. One very special evening for us! šŸ’–šŸ¾šŸ„‚šŸøšŸ¹šŸ’– Back for Comrades ā€˜Down’ this year and I still love this placeā£ļøAfternoon snack (nachos) with a delicious hot chocolate on my first day. šŸ˜‹
