We booked the two hour whale watching tour with Romanza. Two days in a row this tour was canceled because of bad weather conditions, even though on land it wasn't windy at all and the sun was shining. When the tour finally happened I was quite disappointed. It took about 20 Minutes to get out on the sea and then the crew on the boat spotted two whales, a mother and its calf. For maybe 15-20 minutes we followed these two whales and you were able to watch the whales from afar. Then we turned around and drove (very slowly) for a full 30 minutes to the seal island. There we spend 10 minutes and then we drove back for 30 minutes to the harbour. I was so disappointed because we booked the whale watching tour and NOT the seal island trip and most of the time was spend driving to and back from the seals. The woman from Romonza told us when we bought the tickets that we would also see the seals and maybe even dolphins and sharks. However she did not say that the seal island is the opposite direction from where you spot the whales and that the majority of the time is spend getting to the seals. This time would have been better spend watching the whales and maybe even seeing some more of them! The boat is a sailing ship. It is already quite old and is operated with a motor. The boat drives quite slow and and the smell of the diesel is there constantly. During the 30 minute trip to the seals the smell was so bad that you nearly had to hold your breath the whole time. So overall you booked a whale watching tour and you got a long smelly boat ride to the seals with 15 minutes of...

Romonza Boat Trips: The Romonza sunset cruise to Seal Island was such a unique activity (without the usual hordes of tourists - we visited during April)!
I was at first very skeptical when I heard 'Sunset Cruise'. I have been on a lot of these types of trips and always been disappointed as we either return before actual sunset or there's always some lame excuse about why they couldnt keep sailing.
However! This cruise is ACTUALLY a sunset cruise and we spent a good 2.5 hours on the water. We were lucky to even see an amazing moon rise, where the sky changed from oranges and yellows to soft pinks and purples 🧡💛💜🩷
🦭 The cruise takes you to seal island , home to over 2500 Cape Fur Seals and the island is surround by their greatest enemy - The Great White Shark. 🦈
🐬 🐳 Sometimes, you might even see dolphins and whales along the way
🍷 🥂 Oh, and we were allowed drinks on board, so we go to sip on wine as the sun set around us. Magical! . . . Read moreVisited Mosselbay in spring 2018. Had a booking for a boat trip on Saturday but was called one hour in advance of the booking only to be told the trip was cancelled due to unfavourable sailing conditions. The sea was extremely calm on that day and we could see many other vessels making the same trip that we had booked. We were told that we might be able to take the trip the next morning, so we got up early on Sunday (our last day in Mosselbay) only to receive another phone call which stated again that the trip had been cancelled due to stormy sea conditions. Once again, looking out over the bay it was clear that it could not have been a more serene day for sailing. While we did receive a refund, I find it extremely unprofessional to cancel trips under the pretext of the ocean being unfavourable for sailing when it is clearly not the case. Would give 0 stars but unfortunately that...
