The Marbled Wagyu Mossel Bay — Restaurant in George

This is by far the best place we have eaten in Mossel Bay. We were recommended Cafe Gannet and went there the day before, but this place is in an entirely higher echelon. Right down by the water we were warmly welcomed by master of operations, Charlie, and had a great seat.

Walking past another table we must have seen their signature dish, Prima Wagyu Steak. There was no going back it looked amazing. We settled down with a bottle of excellent shiras, also from the same Oudtshoor estate as the beef. Absolutely fabulous, one of best wines we have had in SA and perfect for a red wine fan like myself. Then the food arrived.... oh... OMG... 😛. Need I say more?

The culinary delight was finished off with a chocolate desert and a glass of estate Moskadel desert wine. I could have drunk this all night!

Finally a very big thank you to Charlie who made it uniquely special. Not only was he wonderful but he's also lined us up for the Oudtshoorn estate and dinner...

Disappointing. I live in the uk and are always up to spend the extra few dollars for exceptional food. The marbled Wagyu was really a disappointing experience. I walked around wondering if I was duped. Did I miss something? Firstly , the De Kombuys R800 2015 Shiraz had no vintage year on the label, so we just had to trust that this was actually a 2015. I love my wine , but honestly. I had a R80 bottle from Checkers that was better than this. The R650 Wagya Prima was really disappointing for the price. Not sure if I am missing something here again but I had better meat at the Spur. All and all me and and my brother left really disappointed. We went there knowing we we will spend an obscene amount of money , but for a once off exceptional food experience we were up for it. Value for money , I would give this place zero stars. Food quality and taste...

My husband and I were on holiday in June and the Marbled Wagyu was our first restaurant to go eat at in Mosselbay. The food was so incredible we went back the next evening for dinner again. The atmosphere is amazing. Staff is wonderfull and make you feel right at home. Charlie is a great host and really takes the time to explain every option to you and advise you on what to try according to your tastebuds. We will definitely be visiting...
