Let me tell you a story worthy of song: I wandered into the hallowed halls of Art Monster Seoul, tucked away in Insadong, seeking nothing more than a humble pint. What I found instead was a legendary experience.
The beer? Nectar of the gods. Smooth, flavourful, so tasty it could make Odin put down his mead horn and nod in respect. Each sip felt like a triumph, a celebration, a golden river of joy running through my very soul.
But then… tragedy struck. I departed, leaving behind not just any belongings, but my hat and sunglasses—the sacred armour of any traveller. I thought them lost forever, destined to be swallowed by the void.
Yet fate smiled upon me, for the staff of Art Monster are no mere mortals. They are guardians, protectors of all that is good. They carefully preserved my treasures in a plastic bag, awaiting my return. And when I came back, instead of judgement, I was met with kindness, warmth… and the ultimate compliment: They told me I was handsome.
Friends, I ask you—what more could a man want? Delicious beer, heroic staff, and validation of one’s rugged good looks. Art Monster Seoul is not a bar. It is a sanctuary, a fellowship, a legend etched in hops and foam.

Read moreFirst bad meal in Korea! I've had just-okay meals but this was the first bad one, and I was ravenous so I ate it anyway.
My mistake was going for the food because the beer was pretty good and I like that they have multiple sizes available. If I were at home I would have left it on the plate. Most of the other customers who trickled in were clueless white foreigners, drawn in by the promise of a good beer. The restaurant smells strongly of mildew but that's okay with me- my favorite dives always did, too.

There are a number of nooks that you and your friends can sit in and enjoy beer(s) and good conversation while watching the stream of people go by.

Finding the entrance can be a little tricky, but it's worth it!
(Update) The food has been good for us in the past but this time our chicken was a...
