Princess Hanbok — Local services in Seoul

Princess Hanbok provided excellent Hanbok rental and photography services, with a smooth rental service, wide and personalizable collection, and photo session that was extremely fun! Highly recommended for tourists in the Insadong area.

[Booking] Very straightforward - we booked an appointment the night before through Klook and paid before going for the Hanbok rental. On the day, we successfully requested for additional photography services.

[Location & Wait Time] Princess Hanbok is located along Culture Street, which made it super easy to grab lunch and snacks afterwards. There's a prominent sign right outside the building – this might be the only downside, because the store was a 4/F walk-up which isn't easy in a Hanbok! Fortunately, the staff gave us clear instructions for how to safely move around in the attire.

We arrived about 5 minutes before our 10am appointment and were invited in immediately. We had no trouble browsing through clothing and changing into the Hanbok in the changing rooms.

[Clothing Selection] Princess Hanbok offered a wide variety of colors and styles, as well as fun hairpin accessory options. The collection also catered to everyone: as a taller man, I found a fitting Hanbok; I also saw many older tourists finding Hanboks that fit them beautifully. I appreciated how the staff helped with pairing my outfit’s color and styles with my wife’s.

[Professionalism and services] The staff effortlessly weaved between multiple languages, exchanging Korean/Chinese/Japanese/English depending on the customer. The staff kindly and efficiently moved us through each stage of the process.

The photographer was a perfect mix of professional and lighthearted. He expertly guided us for where to position our hands, arms, gaze – all stuff that feel counterintuitive but make for a great shot. Our family of six (including an infant) had a very poor experience here.

Poor Organisation – The whole process was not systematic at all. Despite arriving within the 15-minute grace period, we had to wait and wait for our turn. The flow was confusing, and no one seemed to manage the crowd properly.

Unprofessional Hair Styling – The hairstyling was done without care or consideration for our individual face shapes or hair types. It looked rushed, and no effort was put in to make it nice.

Photo Shoot Not Worth It – We paid extra for the photo shoot but it was really not worth it. Only one location was used, and the photographer didn’t seem to guide or put effort into the shoot.

Unpleasant Payment Experience – Since there was no option to pay for an infant online, we made payment onsite. However, the staff kept miscalculating the amount and spoke to us in a tone as if we didn’t want to pay. There were many groups waiting, but it’s not our fault if their system isn’t organised. We were still within the allowed time window!

Overall: The experience was absolutely not enjoyable and very poorly managed. If you ask me, I would not recommend this shop to others.

This hanbok shop was amazing. Such a great selection of hanbok and the staff were quick and friendly to help me match my skirt to a shirt and to also get me dressed and my hair done. I arrived at noon and I was worried about finding a hanbok I liked since it seemed like other places were well picked over by afternoon, but this place had such a wide selection that should never be a concern. The hanbok is high quality and fit well. Walking around, you see cheaper hanbok and ill fitting hanbok on others, but not from this shop! They make sure you have one that fits well and the quality is superb. I wish I could have taken it home with me! As a solo traveler, I also booked the photographer. This is probably the only place not to go to the palace for pictures and it is 100% the right call. The fortress they go to is close by and there is hardly anyone there, which makes for quick and easy photos. The photographer is very friendly and takes great photos!
