My introduction to this place was courtesy of TikTok, where its charming ambiance caught my eye, prompting a visit with my mum and sisters. Unfortunately, the adventure didn't unfold as seamlessly as we hoped. The directions, derived from online maps, proved inaccurate, leading us on a frustrating detour. I strongly advise future visitors to supplement digital navigation with other means.

Upon finally reaching the destination, we were met with lengthy queues, emphasizing the importance of planning visits during off-peak hours to avoid extended waits. Despite our patient anticipation, the staff's lack of communication and engagement dampened our spirits. Nonetheless, once settled into a booth, the atmosphere provided a pleasant backdrop to our dining experience.

The culinary aspect, however, fell short of expectations, particularly considering the hefty price tags. While the blackberry cheesecake toast stood out as a positive highlight, the portion size left room for improvement. The lemon sherbet drink, despite its enticing name, failed to deliver the promised flavor, resembling more of a diluted lemon water than a satisfying beverage.

The most disheartening revelation was the apparent use of frozen bread in their dishes, microwaved and steamed to create a semblance of freshness. This discovery, contrary to my expectations of a novel and fresh culinary experience, left me with a sense of disappointment. The lack of freshness combined with the premium pricing generated a lingering feeling of regret.

In conclusion, while the overall experience offered some enjoyable aspects, the disparity between high prices and subpar food quality was a letdown. For those seeking a unique and top-notch dining adventure, this place may fall short of expectations. The cute ambiance and booth seating, though contributing positively to the atmosphere, couldn't fully compensate for the lackluster food quality and seemingly...

Went on a Wednesday morning, offered to wait for the bar/counter as we would like the full experience of what this bakery has to offer. The design of the bakery is well thought out - light and airy. An open concept kitchen counter where customers can see what's happening to each individual behind the bar. However, if I could describe my experience sitting at the bar, it was like watching a group of disorganized students trying to stay on top of orders and prioritizing what's easiest to get to. The girl who was in charge of steaming the bread was also in charge of preparing the coffee. No elegance in putting down the coffee cups or the steamers - just plopping them loudly on the table like she doesn't care. Also noticed there's no milk steamer, so she has to keep closing the microwave door loudly each time she uses it to heat up the milk for a hot drink. The second girl who came in late, not only was fixing her shirt and hair behind the counter where everyone could notice. She didn't wash her hands prior to supporting the busy line in the morning. Hygiene is a must when it comes to handling food and she did not deliver on that. She was also consistently yawning and pulling out her phone during service. Unprofessional. The host was a tall boy, spoke simple English and tried his best to bust tables as the line up was growing outside. I felt bad for him because all tables in the bakery were full and you can tell customers just want to order, while his team (including the two girls above and 3 more others) were just chatting behind the bar, taking pictures of something their neighbors dropped off. Very disappointed to see the lack of urgency and team work.

The food overall was great and tasty, just needed to refine the behaviours of the team when working in an open concept kitchen. Hoping other visitors would have a better experience sitting at...

I was looking forward to this place as I have seen it so much on social media. It took us an hour to be seated. But I guess that’s me to be blamed too. Cause like others we were all influenced to visit. I tried their famous steamed bread: chestnut and sweet potato flavour, black sesame mochi bread & honey vanilla toast bread topped with ice cream and 1 iced long black/ americano and 1 iced latte for the two of us. Point to be noted: this was for two of us. As soon as I ordered the host said I think it’s too much for yourll. I was like lol. 3 desserts among two men would go quick. 😂 The steamed bread was great to start as it came out warm. But as soon as the bread cooled off the taste was lost as it felt like an ordinary bread. The chestnut and sweet potato were like cubes in the bread stuffed. I would have preferred if the chest nut and sweet potato were more gooeey like custard texture so when you tore open the steamed bread it kinda flowed rather than just pieces of chest nut or sweet potato stuffed in the bread. The black sesame mochi bread was neither a hit or miss. The only saving grace was the honey vanilla toast bread. Which was like a French toast with honey syrup and vanilla ice cream. Have I had better? Yes! This is def a true depiction of everything social Media portrays isn’t always true. But then again if you don’t try it you wouldn’t...

Mil Toasthouse 밀 토스트집 | IKSEON-DONG | SEOUL 🇰🇷🏠👩🏻‍🍳👨🏻‍🍳🍞🧈 Thanks to Tik-Tok and friends’ WOM, we found our legs running to Mil Toasthouse! Fluffy steamed bread and soufflé French Toast raved by locals and tourists alike. Mil (밀) means wheat - fundamental in bread making. Super feels - queuing up in the wintry cold, aromas of fresh my baked toasts and butter permeates the air, waking the quiet neighborhood with the cafe buzz. Have a partner that queued with me for 40 mins for bread - I married well! Haha! Like Bukchon Hanok, Ikseon-dong 익선동 boasts many traditional hanok housecapes from the olden days - encouraging the gentrification of many specialty cafes - turning the hood hipster. Signature includes, Steamed Bread served in bamboo baskets - available in plain, red bean, chestnut and corn fillings. Also the French toasts, made in small batches - best paired with butter, red bean paste and sesame. They were heavenly! Tip - dip the bread in hot creamy truffle mushroom soup - amazeballs Of course would highly recommend! Ambience, bread and atmosphere were all great. But heads up, rather pricey but definitely a go for breadlovers alike. Also, head nearby a few shops down to takeaway the Jayeondo Salt Bread also worshipped by many bread peeps! . . . 📍Mil Toasthouse 밀 토스트집30-3 Supyo-ro 28-gil, Donui-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, South Korea서울특별시 종로구 돈의동 수표로28길 30-3
