Toyoko Inn Seoul Dongdaemun II — Attraction in Seoul

In accordance with the instructions, we used exit number four from Dongdaemun History and Culture Park Seoul Metro railway station, which involved dragging suitcases up about 50 stairs. I did it, but it was hard work.||||The exit to use is number one that is at the Park, then cross both roads and walk in total about 150 metres.||||The hotel has a small restaurant on the ground floor. The included breakfast was much poorer than the one at Busan's Inn, as the Seoul number two T. Inn had only cut apple suitable for Westerners. ||||On the ground floor - called first in Sth Korea - there were two washing machines - KRW2000 - and dryers - KRW500. The latter didn't do a great job.||||There was the usual standard free coffee.||||Strangely one cannot enter the rooms between 1030 and some time in the afternoon, supposedly for cleaning. holders of the loyalty card can check in from 1500 not 1600 hours. The gap from check out at 1000 is longer than many other hotels.||||The lifts (elevators must be separately called there are only two for 20 storeys.||||The room was about 16 square metres, very small but of an L shape. Blackout curtains did a good job while the split system aircon was effective but blew directly on to the bed. Bedding was duvet style and in contrast to the Busan railway station T. Inn, lacked a top sheet so I have marked it down for that. The pillows had beads in them and were comfortable.||||The room had a table and two chairs plus a desk and a chair. There was a reading lamp and good fluro lighting. Green tea was provided as was a kettle and hairdryer, plus a shoehorn and slippers. There were also two sets of abseiling equipment in case of an evacuation.||||The bathroom was poky and shower over bath, but hot water worked well. One had to keep the bathroom door closed when showering to avoid false fire alarms. A tiny bar of soap was the issue. The toilet had a small lid and was not wide enough for modern day heavy Westerners and other races.||||There was a modern safety deposit box in the room, plus free luggage storage adjacent to reception. Staff were OK but not as friendly as in Busan. The two Cs for guests at reception were defective for 12 hours but one was fixed. ||||There was no noise transmission so the hotel gets a tick for that.||||Due to the poor breakfast I can only rate...

I booked during promotion before Korea relaxed the Covid restrictions. The room is much bigger than I expected and very comfortable to stay for 9 days. The bed is big for one person, nice and comfy. The room comes with hair dryer so you don't need to pack one. There is coin operated washer and dryer at the lobby if you wish to do laundry. If you are super light sleeper, the rooms are not super sound proof. I could hear the water flushing sound when others use the bathroom, people talking outside the doors can be heard. But it is not loud enough for me to figure out what they are saying. The sounds did not affect my sleep. The place is super clean. Breakfast is Korean style with toast. Korean breakfast offering change daily. || Location is not suitable if you have problem with stairs. DDP station has a lot of stairs, and only 1 exit has working lift which is rather far. The new lift that is around the corner is not operational yet. Don't try to come to the hotel by train, Seoul subways have more stairs and difficult to find escalator/life. To get to the hotel, take the airport bus 6001 which is only 2 mins walk to the hotel. Ride is about 2 1/2 hour depending on traffic. Google has the location wrong, the bus stops on the same side of the hotel, do not cross the road. Lots of food choice around the corner and cross the street, where you see Starbucks. Shopping is near opposite DDP, 5-10mins walk. DDP station is super convenient, the stairs to the station is just in front of the hotel, but its a long flight of stairs.
