Literally almost stumbled onto this artwork after leaving Placa De Jaume , didnt know what it was but a google search later realised that the monument to the Castellers was a wonderful little find , we never saw any castellers in action for the few days we were in Barcelona so will be on the lookout when next in town , the monument is a tower of twisted metal poles which signifies the strength and agility of the tower builders

Une grande tradition catalane est cette des tours humaines, alors que les citoyens s'agroupent afin de former une base en posant leurs bras sur les épaules de leurs voisins, permettant à d'autres ciotyens de monter sur les épaules des premiers et établir à leur tour une base solide pour que grimpent d'autres citoyens, ainsi de suite pour construire une tour de plusieurs étages, la foule formant au pied de la tour une grande chaîne de renforts. Il faut le voir pour le croire! Cette sculpture Homenatge als Castellers dans la Place Saint-Michel de Barcelone, en Espagne, célèbre cette belle tradition. Les photographes de Photolator espèrent pouvoir revenir en Catalogne et voir les citoyens former une tour humaine!

What to say about the Monument to the Castellers? This is a beautiful monument dedicated to the very famous and typical castellers' tradition of human body castle building. The bad thing is that they set up porter potties all around it.

Interesante monumento construido para dar Homenaje a los castellers está formado por doce tubos de acero inoxidable de diez centímetros de diámetro que se entrelazan hasta 26,5 metros de altura y que se sustenta sobre una placa de hormigón de 12 x 12 metros. Se trata de una escultura conceptual , bajo la cual se puede transitar, que representa la fragilidad y la fuerza de un castillo .

Está ubicado en la plaça Sant Miquel, a un costado de la Plaça Sant Jaume, es una obra de Antoni Llena i Font construida en acero inoxidable, la estructura crece en forma piramidal simulando un castell que quiere tocar el cielo.
