The Artxanda Funicular is a must-visit for anyone wanting a panoramic view of the city and to enjoy a pleasant walk at the summit. The funicular first opened in 1915 and has been taking passengers up the steep slopes of Mount Artxanda ever since. The journey takes about 3 minutes and offers stunning views of the city and the surrounding mountains. Here's some additional information you might find helpful: • Opening Hours: • Winter (October 1st - May 31st): 7:15 AM - 10:00 PM (Mon-Sat), 8:15 AM - 10:00 PM (Sun & Public Holidays) • Summer (June 1st - September 30th): 7:15 AM - 10:00 PM (Mon-Thurs), 7:15 AM - 11:00 PM (Fri, Sat & eves of Public Holidays), 8:15 AM - 10:00 PM (Sun & Public Holidays) • Frequency: • Every 10 minutes between 11:00 AM - 8:00 PM • Every 15 minutes at other times • Increased frequency when crowded • Prices: • €2.50 one-way • €4.30 round-trip • Free for children under 6 and people accompanying disabled visitors Once you reach the top of Mount Artxanda, you'll find a park, several restaurants, a hotel, a sports complex, and of course, incredible panoramic views.

During my recent visit to Bilbao, I wanted to try the funicular railway 🚞. This is a must-do experience when in Bilbao. To reach the station at the bottom, make sure when you search on Google, that you put in the bottom station, otherwise it will give you directions to the top station. The lower station is a short walking 🚶‍♀️ distance from the river. There are cafes nearby. The price of a ticket 🎟 was only a couple of euros 💶 each way. The trains run every 10 minutes or so. It's a short journey to the top of the hill, with stunning views along the way. At the top of the hill, there are amazing views of Bilbao and the sounding coastline. There are public toilets 🚻 at the top and places where you can get something to eat or drink. It's beautiful at the top of the hill. And very relaxing place if you want to get out of the city for a few hours. I'd highly recommend this activity if you're in the amazing 👏 Bilbao city 😀
